Pagan rituals are so stupid. HAHA.
Happy vacation time.
Does Tim celebrate Christmas? He seems like he wouldn't but he has daughter which probably softens him up a bit. |

i appreciate the fact that it has some basis in real science. astronomy in this case. i equally appreciate the cleverness of the church for slapping their holidays on top of pagan holidays. there's just a level of asshole behavior where you have to just smirk and shake your head.
i'm more than a little confused at this sudden influx of alledged pagan and wiccan believers, particularly among teenagers, and more specifically, teenage girls. i'm not passing off your beliefs as a fad, fluffy. nor am i calling you a teenage girl (although i'm still suspicious.) i'm only wondering why suddenly these ancient believes are cropping up again. |

Dan we need new myths and we need myths that work. So I think we are seeing a return to the some of the ancient beliefs. People need a story to enact and the one we have now pretty much sucks. The ancient beliefs almost without fail hold the knowledge of the only proven right way to live. They in fact hold the secret to life. Like the message says Love Nature it's a good thing.
I think I'd like to participate in some pagan rituals sometime. |

I'm not a teenage girl, or a wicca. I'm a Cherokee Indian, and have always celecrated the Solstice as well as the Equinox. It's not new for those of us who have always celebrated with cremony the things we find spirit in. Peace, Robin |

Very cool Robin. I sure would love to hear more about how you celebrate that!
I love Christmas, I love the traditions my family shares. I am just filled to the brim with love, peace and happiness. Now I will be the first to admit, the TIMe of year probably has little to do with that, but traditions bring me closer to the ones I love.
Personally I don't care what people celebrate or don't celebrate. I enjoy hearing about other customs and beliefs but I am getting tired of all the Christmas bashing. If people don't like the holiday or something about it, don't celebrate it or the part you don't like. If your family forces you to participate in family rituals, do yourself a favor and just go along with it. Some things you can get out of when you're older but even then, someTIMes it is just nice to do things because it makes family members happy. You don't have to be fake about it but you don't have to be sarcastic and critical either.
Just my opinion. Jesus happens to be one of a handful of people in whom I have the greatest respect and I am happy to celebrate his birth. As always, to each his/her own.
I think the original message was supposed to stir peace and good feelings, so lets try to keep it that way. |

Hey Pam, thanks. I am of the same opinion as you. Do what it is that means something to you. I'm happy that the holiday is meaningful for you and warm wishes to you too. Peace, Robin |

i agree. it's time for new myths.
i understand that you've been celebrating this solstice all your life. i was talking about the sudden increase in wiccans and i don't recall mentioning indians, or any other such heritage, because i haven't seen everyone all of a sudden claiming that. it was just an observation.
i think that it's amazing that, since time uncounted, people have been so accurately recording and understanding minute patterns that take a long time to complete without the benefit of what tools we now have. astronomy in particular. look at fucking stonehedge and the accuracy there. it's astounding. |

Especially interesting are the Mayans and there unreal knowledge of the cosmos. They were amazingly accurate and their calendar by far surpasses anything in the gregorian calendar we use. Then again it's one of my theories that astrology was one of the earliest systems of beliefs that in large part transformed the judeo/christian belief system. It is awe inspiring and good reminder that we today are in no way more intelligent then our ancestors. |

Dan, I got a feeling the end of the world is so f-ing close, the Mayans damn well may be spot on with that. They talk about the "2020 Spike" but it could well be before that. |

Art Bell...wow, blast from the past. I haven't listened to Coast-to-Coast AM in probably a year. Used to date a girl that required 2 hours of driving each way, that show made the drive so much easier. Thank you so much for mentioning him. Who's the host now, still George Noory (sp?)? |
