OK it's pretty easy. Just open up itunes and choose whatever song you want to make into a ringtone. Note the start time and stop time of the clip you want to have as your ringer. I think the max is 40 seconds.
Then right click on the song and click "get info," then click the "options" tab and enter the start and stop times and check their corresponding boxes. Click OK.
Now, right click on the file again and choose "create AAC version." It'll take a sec and then you'll see a duplicate show up in itunes that, when you play it, is just the clip of the song. You can get rid of it in itunes, just be sure to select "keep the file." You can also go back and uncheck the start and stop times in the original file now.
Now, minimize itunes and find the file you just made in explorer, which is usually in the "Music > iTunes > iTunes Music" directory in a folder with the band name. Then just change the file extension from "m4a" to "m4r" and double click the file... itunes should automatically add it to your ringtones library.
I know it sounds like a lot of steps but it's really easy once you do it a couple of times. Enjoy! |
