I think that after coming so close to breaking up a couple years ago (seriously, Dave wrote a letter to them saying he was done), rebuilding themselves, then realizing how what they had was so special when they lost LeRoi made them appreciate this more. Tim and Carter seemed to have been the people in/around the group that know LeRoi the longest, so I think it hit them the most, which makes them much more appreciative about what makes this so special.
I got my package a day late (damn you musictoday), but after even the first listen, I LOVED it. Also, a song I am really liking is a song most of the DMB community seems to dislike or even hate: Seven! It really just ROCKS! Tim is the only one playing guitar on the track too! It's just soooo rocking and grooving! Then Shake Me Like A Monkey took me a bit to accept the lyrics, but now that's great. Lying In the Hands of God is just so beautiful. Squirm is a trip back to songs like Minarets, Don't Drink the Water, and the Last Stop. Time Bomb is damn good. Alligator Pie took a bit to let the time signatures to be expected and fit, as well as the "daddy won't you put me in a song" part about Stella, but now it's great (and I like that electric resonator guitar he uses). My favorite song still is Why I Am. I do like the others, but those are the ones that are my favorites. However, I do prefer Sister to Baby Blue.
I also got my hands on the studio version of Corn Bread (which is on the UK release). It takes it a bit more mellow and a tiny bit slower like how D&T did it when it debuted. I like it more. The banjo on it is perfect. I have yet to listen to the bonus CD, but I am sure I will love it.
I got the Live Trax bonus, and even though I already had the show from a bootleg (it was my show I went to, Alpine '08 night 1), it sounds so much better! And Halloween!
I rank the albums like this now
8-Stand Up 7-Everyday 6-Busted Stuff 5-R2T 4-Lillywhite Sessions 3-Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King (tied with) 3-Crash 2-Under the Table and Dreaming 1-Before These Crowded Streets |

i don't know, im not feeling about half of the so-called "amazing" songs. there are about 3-4 goods songs but the rest just seem out there in the genre they usually and that's not counting the 3-4 songs dave can't sing in a live a setting now, let alone if they tour 10 years from now.
i'd rather listen to everyday or busted stuff. |

I just love that Tim is at the forefront of this album. Seven is such an awesome song, and its really all because of him, IMO. |

BWGGK debuts at #1 on Billboard
I detect a bit of sarcasm in the writers text LOL
Dave Matthews Band Top Billboard 200 June 10, 2009 1:15 p.m. by Andrew Winistorfer
If there's anything that my advertising classes taught me (they didn't teach me anything), it's to never underestimate the buying power of Dave Matthews Band fans. They're to thank for the success of hacky sacks, weed in the Midwest and the robust DVD sales of the Dave Matthews-Dakota Fanning picture, Because of Winn Dixie. Now Dave Matthews fans are responsible for getting their molasses tongued prophet to the top of the Billboard 200, as the band's 14,000 album (that's an estimate), Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, has moved 424,000 units in its first week out.
Dave Matthews Band knock off former chart topper Eminem, whose Relapse topped the last two weeks, and now sits at number two with 141,000 copies sold. Big Whiskey is the fifth straight DMB album to sell more than 400,000 copies in its first week out, proving that there are either 400,000 Dave Matthews Band fans who like them so much that they'll buy every CD, or one Dave Matthews Band fan who buys 400,000 copies of each of their albums. I didn't know Dave was ever in a movie. Because of Winn Dixie sounds terrible. That's too bad... |

I saw it. Guess what, it wasn't bad. Now, it was a kids movie but wasn't corny. Like one reviewer said, the adults don't act like morons. It is an adaptation from a best selling children's book. Also, that was his second movie . . . if you don't count the little things he did in C'ville before the band started.
His first was in a version of Where the Red Fern Grows. He plays the father in it. I have not seen it, but it is said that it's good, and Dave does a great job. It was a small independent film that lost it's funds but was saved by someone or some company. It came out about a year or two late. Then he was just in one called Lake Town. He plays the bad guy in the film. I hear the story for it wasn't that great. He is also in 2 films being made. Not sure on their plots, and what Dave's character is. It was said many times in C'ville that he was a great actor, and when he would do stage shows, he stole the stage every time he came on. Also, the director of the music video of So Much To Say said that if Dave ever decided to become an actor he'd be great.
He did have a cameo in both Chuck and Larry and Zolan. He says he likes Adam Sandler. I like only some of the stuff he does, but hey each to their own. |

This might have been mentioned; however, Dave was also on an episode of House. As for Big Whiskey & The Groogrux King: I'm really enjoying Shake Me Like A Monkey, Lying In The Hands Of God and Why I Am. I'm sure my favorites will change with further listening. It's always that way! |

I've always wondered why Dave is always cast in the role of some kind of weirdo or mentally challenged person...can't he just play a normal part? |

I think he likes playing that role. :) I know the producers and Hugh Laurie were very impressed with Dave and his abilities. Some of you may know that Hugh has a celeb based band that plays for fun and apparently, Dave took some time out to jam with them. At least, that's what I read. Millissa |

Haha, true, true. I do actually think he's a pretty decent actor though. |

In Where the Red Fern Grows, his character is very sane, just the wise dad. In Lake Town, he's the evil bad guy, and in Chuck and Larry he is the gay guy working in a clothing store who hits on Adam Sandler.
Also, in Winn Dixie, he is just kind of the outcast . . . who brings pickles to the party, "I brought a jar of pickles."
Also, when Dave just talks like normal, and isn't answering interview questions, he speaks plain and clearly. It seems that onstage and in interviews (except the one on Fuse, where he seemed very coherent and open) he has trouble finding exactly what words to say. |

He also plays a redneck in Don't Mess with the Zohan... I thought he was the funniest thing about that movie. |
