Could have been a lot worse!!! For the most part, it was a great night. Marcus Eaton was playing a show with his new band in Los Angeles at a place called Room 5. We went up to LA around 6:00pm and met some family and friends for a nice dinner at PF Changs at the Beverly Center. Also worthy of mentioning is that it was pouring rain. We've had some pretty crazy storms here in So Cal this week, and last night was particularly heavy. I love the rain however, so I was enjoying it.
Parking at the venue was a little rough (parking in LA is always rough) but after 3 tries, I eventually was able to pull up to the valet in the rain and we ran into the venue without getting too wet. This place was pretty cool, it was upstairs above an Italian restraunt. Marcus went on at about 11:00. The first two songs (Black Pearl, and Victims) were just Marcus with a bass player, they next played a few tunes with a drummer as well. My favortie was a new song called "The Difference". Great show, always love to see Marcus play, and it was cool to see him with a band. They did Candle to the Sun, and Who You are that were both really ROCKing with the band.
Unfortunately I didn't get to take any pictures or videos as I had planned because I couldn't risk transporting my camera from my car to the venue in the pouring rain.
After saying bye to Marcus, we got the car back, and started heading home. At this point I had been up since 5:00am that morning, and was dead tired. The rain was really coming down hard, visibility was horrible, and since it doesn't rain much around here, most people don't know how to drive in the rain. Idiots were still speeding all over the freeways, we saw one accident, and one more almost happened right in front of us from someone driving too fast. It took about 1 hr and 30 mins to get home (I was driving pretty slow, and very carefully) and about 5 mins from home I get a flat tire!!! HOW MUCH WORSE COULD THIS HAVE BEEN??? I was able to drive home with my hazzards on very slowly, but what if this would have happened on in LA? What if I was stuck on the side of the freeway in the rain? We could have spun out, we could have caused an accident, we could have been badly hurt, or worse!!! YIKES. I've never been more thankful for a flat tire than last night because it happened the best possible way given the circumstances.

Glad you got home safely Kevin. I see you have a Honda. You can ride (slowly) on a flat tire with a Honda, not so with some other cars. My daughter had a flat with her Honda a few years ago and was able to drive it to the dealer to get a new tire. Has to do with the type of tires they use.
Also very cool that you got to hear Marcus. I can't wait to hear him in March when he opens for TR3. |
