hi, im really thankful for tim reynolds for beeing the person that he is, im sure many have been touched the same way by his music. The reason why i post this is mainly to try and find out if people that enjoy listening to tim also enjoy making music like him, not in the technical aspect of solo acoustic but in the transcending spectrum, i can relate to tims music and reading all the info available here can also relate to his life and his way of thought, i know little people that can say the same but im sure there are people out there doing what tim reynolds does.
ive been playing in some experimental bands that usually make some people leave, hehe. and im very interested in hearing other creative people

Welcome. Let me just say these are very nice message boards. I have come from a long line of bad message boards, and almost never returned to them again (this is after the second time I said that). It is intelligence here that I love. If we fight, it's with these weird big gushy brains of ours. Some gooze with green stuff like Dan's, but some are just big and pink like mine.

I am a musician, but not in the way that Tim is. I stick to more structured music when I write. My hero is John Lennon, and I look up to him when I write a song. The other musicians I also look up to when writing is mostly Bob Dylan or Dave Matthews. Sometimes I also look towards Neil Young.

Tim, though, he blows me away everytime. My favorite stuff of his normally is his slower stuff, and weirder stuff.

But for music I am into, I am all over the place I will go from Bob Dylan to Dream Theater, to Tim Reynolds, to Beethoven. Music I can relate to Tim's trancendance is Greg Howard. I am really digging his stuff a lot right now.

There are quite a few fellow musicians here that do some kewl stuff. I don't know if he is around much anymore, but Pez is great. He does some really unique songs and covers some songs very odd and beautifuly. I always love hearing his version of the Dreaming Tree all done on the cello.

Not communicating can hurt more than any word that can be said -

Nick

Welcome. I'm kind of along the same lines of Nick as far as my musical philosophy and how I appreciate Tim. I don't write songs like Tim, and I don't play many of Tim's songs, mainly because I have a psychological impotence when it comes to my guitar playing ;)

I'm more of a singer/songwriter in the way that Dave Matthews, David Gray or Bob Dylan are, but Tim is by far my biggest influence as a musician. He doesn't stick to "the norm" whatever that is, and he's all over the place from acoustic to electric to practically electronica, as I am. I may never have a CD completed because I can't stick to one style or sound, as I get bored quickly.

Thanks for posting im really happy to get to know your story´s
i live in Tijuana, a city in north of Mexico border city to the states. i had the fortune of meeting lots of traveling musicians that don't actually tour on a scheduled venue but for different circumstances have managed to remain in a "always on tour" mindset and for many reasons mostly economical have spent some time around.
Ive learned much about music not so much in the theoretical logical aspect of how a sound can relate to another, but in the different meanings in the music that these people play.
I can hear in tims music all these sounds that make perfect sense to me, and know people that have similar technical approach to improvisation.
Music has become a powerful force in my life, i found in it a self realization journey that just keeps on amazing me.
theres so much magic and beauty when i hear someone play that i could almost say it has become a religion, but we dont judge, we dont preach, we dont frond on the narcissistic aspect of the particular life style we chosen... we just play.
if anyone has any interest in sharing recordings of their personal experiences with music or just happen to be around and would like to jam let me know.

peace

Mine's big and pink too, but I get in trouble if I show it off.

As for music, TR's my favorite guitarist. Second favorite Steve Hackett. I love the way they can do anything on a guitar. Any style, any genre, any sound. They nail it. I don't try to emulate TR, but I know there are aspects of his style that shine in mine, simply because I absorb so much TR. I like your posts AfroBlue you seem like a truly sincere and musical person, definitely stick around and start hanging out in the "Friends..." section of the board. Welcome brother.

Steve Hackett: "I'm my own opening act, you see."
Tim (before "Faceoff"): "Peace, love....and SEX!"
