Here is another that should have been a great show, and was for most of the folks there, but for me because of technical difficulties I remember it a bit differently. Another case of why I shouldn't be reviewing the shows and the FANS should. We arrived an absolutely loved the room. Looked great with it's motif of REVOLUTION ALL AROUND us. We set up and soundman turned on the PA and there was this horrible buzz in the system. We were told it was louder than usual at which point I thought "Usual?" I guess they are used to rock bands where it isn't so noticeable but for our acoustic soundcheck it was quite annoying. After the soundman got it down to an acceptable level for TR we did our soundcheck. Let me say, it was still not at an acceptable level for me. TR and Rew said that after a few minutes they barely even noticed it. Wish that was the case for me. LOL After soundcheck I talked to the soundman about possible origins for the buzz and explained that it might be the lights after our experience in Philly with the lights affecting the sound so badly. He assured me they were on different power systems and that one should not affect the other. I explained that the best way to isolate it was to try routing past each piece of equipment and see where the buzz is beginning. We had one venue where the reverb unit at the board would cause an awful buzz in the system if we tried to turn it on but when it was off no buzz so we went without the reverb and the BUZZ that nite. After our conversation he returned to the soundboard and started to turn off each piece of equipment to see if it was something at the soundboard causing the buzz. Low and behold the first thing he turned off made the buzz go away. Apparently the lights that he used to light his effects rack were causing the buzz. He explained to the house manager that he needed to get a new power strip for his lights but for the nite we were going to run sans lights to keep the buzz away. I went to dinner happy. Sadly during the show the buzz kept returning periodically for no apparent reason and after the second TIMe it appeared and disappeared I told Rew to tell the soundguy to stop doing whatever he was doing that was causing the buzz. Rew returned to inform me that there was a new problem and the only way to fix it was for the soundman to bang on the soundboard which he continued to do everyTIMe the buzz would surface. This worked until the encore when the buzz returned, louder than ever, an he never could get it to go away before the show ended. Luckily the buzz didn't affect the sound in the house to much but it was horrible for TR on stage and me on the side of the stage. TR wore earplugs that nite because of the loud, saturday nite drinking & TALKING crowd so the buzz didn't bother him as much as it bothered me. He ended up having a good TIMe and enjoyed the show despite the buzz and loud talkers in the back of the room. The people up front in the lower level were in awe and quite respectful of TR. They really seemed to be enjoying it. We had a couple of openers that nite, one of which was Abra Moore. I have been a fan of Abra's for quite a few years and this was my first opportunity to see her live. She did not let me down. She was fantastic! I have always said she is like the female Chris Whitley to me. What Chris was with his unique style to male singer/songwriters, Abra is to female singer/songwriters. She doesn't sound like Chris at all but she is just as unique and amazing as he was. She is getting ready to release a new record and she played a few songs from the new one, one of which is a song about her dog which I thought was kinda ironic and sychronistic given that one of TR's newer songs is about his dogs. They both played there "DOG" song that nite. hehe TR's setlist looked a little like this:

Baggage Claim In Space
Captain Goat Fish Ohio
Betrayal
Truth
Che
This Life To The Next
Bird Drops Keep Falling On My Head, In Space But In A Vacuum Maybe Not
------------------------------------
Sinsinustox
Ancestors
Coco In The Wild
Stream of Meat Wishes
Axiom
Debt Squad T.V.
-----------------------------------------
Puke In Zero Gravity
You Are My Sanity OR
(Dissolution OR)
Drivin Me Crazy
Indoctrinate
Spitting and Regretting
-------------------------------------------
Revolution All Over
Doom
Levee
Ocean
-------------------------------------------
Hold On
(White House Denies
Nuts and Bolts

It was a great room and I hope that we get to go back again. The soundman assured me the board was going to be fixed or replaced the next day. To bad it didn't happen the day before we arrived. Better luck next TIMe. All the way around everyone had a great nite, even me despite my annoyance at the BUZZ. When the buzz wasn't there it sounded awesome. Amazing how such a little thing that throw a wrench into an otherwise great evening for me. LOL Like I said, apparently it wasn't that noticeable, if at all, to the audience. That's why I shouldn't be reviewing, in a nutshell. LOL
