W.O.W. stands for Woodsman of the World
So after a little longer drive than we expected from Bend today due to a mountain pass closure that caused us to reroute around we arrived on a unsurprisingly rainy day in Eugene. Although the rain was not surprising there were many more surprises in store for us. hehe We still managed to arrive a tad early so we decided to check into our hotel before showing up at the venue for load-in. We checked into a cozy little motel and began to settle in as the power went off in our rooms. I went to the front desk to see what was up and they informed me that the power in the whole motel was out. They said they would look into it. As I left the office I also noticed that the traffic lite was out but that nothing across the street seemed to be affected which was a good thing since the venue was across the street. With no power at the hotel and word from the front desk that the city was working on it we prepared to leave for the venue for load-in. As we got in the car I looked over at (c)Rew just in TIMe to see the lites flicker and go out across the street as well. This did not bode well for soundcheck. LOL We arrived at the venue to discover it completely dark and the staff trying to figure out what was going on. A call to the city led to the info that it was a city-wide power outage and they were working on it but no idea when it would come back on. TR had agreed to do the show regardless of the power situation meaning he would play a totally stripped down acoustic set by candlelight if need be. He was prepared and seemed to be looking forward to a somewhat different kind of performance. I called Marcus who was driving down from Portland to inform him of the news and he loved the idea and was excited for a chance at a very unique performance with TR. Sadly, as quickly as the lights went out, they popped back on and power was restored for the remainder of the evening. TR still played an amazingly subtle set. It was a very intimate audience even though the room was quite large. Very quiet and respectful. Most of them were seated on the floor in front of the stage. TR had written a setlist earlier in the evening but short before the set he decided to create a different setlist than he had originally intended. Don't know what came over him but he was very excited about the new setlist and the set he ended up playing was absolutely amazing. Here is sorta what it looked like:
Space Bubble Essense of Flunatic Insight Betrayal In Your Eyes Hidden Variable Natural Mystic/Running Away Space Escape Into Questionable Methods Indoctrinate Big Blast of Deluded Entitites Convinced They Are Running The Universe - Again --------------------------------------------------- Flourescence Ancestors Strom And Then Old Bones? Revalation Slide Boogie ---------------------------------------------- Space Goose Noble So and So OR Fallen Fallen(Babylon) Kundalini OR Sexy Chatterbox Exploding Clocks ------------------------------------------------- Hands Doom Ocean Hold On-Trapped In A Minivan Space Blues Take Your Clothes Off
I don't think Take your Clothes Off was played. Scarab was added into the set at TR's whim and it was a blistering version of it. Think it came just before And Then They Were Free. The tale of the tape will tell. Yes, that's right, it was recorded by one of the guys who helped record TR's performances at Wakarusa. He is also a friend of Marcus' and now a friend of ours. Luckily he recorded because the recording I set up fell thru at the last second. I was bummed to think the show would not be recorded since it seemed like a pretty special performance for TR. He said he would be joining us in Portland as well so you can look forward to that one being recorded as well. He is also good friends with Kevin from the Marcus camp who you may remember as recording so many of TR's show on the run thru Cali with Marcus so I am sure the recording will surface shortly. Thanx to Josh for coming out and documenting the event for all to enjoy. So you know, he also recorded Marcus' set.

This sounds like it was a beautiful night, and the lights out even though it didn't last, maybe added something cosmically... wishing you happy trails for the remainder of the tour. As always thanks for sharing. Peace, Robin |

Hey guys, im really new to this. I've been a big fan of Tim for a while, and this is the first time i've seen him live. Man was it incredible.
I was wondering if someone could help me get some information on obtaining this show. It was an incredible memory of mine, and if I had a tape of it, I would love it.
Im not sure if this is too early, so im really sorry if im doing this wrong.
Thanks a lot guys! |
