Coming to you live from the dressing room of the Recher Theatre. I love venues with internet connections. So, Matt just finished his set and here it is:

Ode to Hanley/317 Languages (Time Travel)
Sorry/Toothache Dance Party (loop stuff)
Stampede Odyssey (Stampede)
Step Aside, Fucker (Watermelon)
Tangerines (Clemmons)
Five Vampires (Four Vampires)

And his set was played exactly as printed.

* This is Matt typing:
This show was amazing! The crowd was very into it and appreciative. They were cheering... for instrumental guitar music!! I had such a blast. HRW and Rubylith are here... hopefully I will see some more. Thanks, everyone!**

Now back to Fluffy, hehe

So the place was packed for Matt's set which doesn't always happen for earliest opener. I glad everyone made it early, THANX! And it was awesome to hear such an energetic audience reaction to him. Whoohooo! More later.......

This was the best Tim show I've been to (or heard on tape) in the past 6 years. He seemed truly inspried.

Matt did a great job too...I heard a lot of random comments from people in the crowd about how much they were digging Matt, even though they didn't know what to expect.

Matt you were fuckin' incredible. I was right up front the whole time, next to the keyboard of the second band. I got to see all the action, and GODDAMN you're good... I dunno what to say, other than it was he perfect opener for a TR concert.

As for TR, I was star-struck. He seemed so into it, the crowd was digging it, and Tim was very polite, with his usual witty banter in between songs. I heard a couple ones I hadn't heard before. Most noteable for me, however, was Kundalini Bonfire. It's much different seeing his hands fly 8 feet in front of your eyes. Other noteables were Doom, Indoctrinate, Hold On I'm Coming, and of course his trippy delay jams that make my ears feel the way eyes must feel on acid.

P.S. Fluffy, nice hat

my favorite color is go fuck yourself. :D

You guys are wonderful. Thanks so much for coming out early to catch my set. I had such a great time. I'm glad you did too.

I was mesmorized by TIM as usual, and fending off some of my friends in the crowd. They'd come up to me saying " Oh, Matt, I liked when you did that one song with the click-click bang, strum" and I'd say "SHH!! TIM is playing!"

What a truly energetic and inspired set. He did some new stuff, some classic stuff, some spaced-out stuff, and anything in between. My favorite of the nigh was Chatterbox. I don't think anybody in Towson expected him to drop the jazz on us

Kundalini was probably the best I have ever seen it. I just LOVE the call and response between the LOW B string and the higher b string when he rips the solos.

Way to chill out before the show, with me, TR and Rew singing some Syd Barrett songs in the green room. Fun times.

Weird moment of the night: the most unexpected but highest compliment I could have recieved: a guy came up to me after the show saying that he walked in during the middle of my set and thought I was Tim Reynolds Maybe add about 20 years of practice, subtract a foot of height, add 34 space alien probes, three tin-foil hats, a bucket of bananas, and then MAYBE I'll be half as good as TIM.

LVT came on after me and did their schtick; some guitar- and piano-driven alt-rock songs with a DMB/ Barenaked Ladies feel. They had a drummer this time, unlike their last spot with us in Baltimore.

Thanks to all of you came out, especially from long distances, and especially those who bought CDs. woohoo!

Edit: oh yeah, and I played Ditched after my first song.

Great show last night, Tim. It was an honor to help Matt open up the show for you and get the crowd amped for your performance. Hope to cross paths again in the coming months.

Cheers,

Wow way to come in late...

Wanted to say Matt ruled, sounded so great. I finally saw (and met) him for the first time it was kick ass!

Tim ruled he played a bunch of new songs with vocals and a very powerful message. The Truth (I think) really stood out to me, had a really great reggae feel. He also did a cover of Chris Whitley's "Hotel Vast horizon" as mention in the Friends forum.

Can't wait to hear the new songs again. HRW got video of it, I'll make sure he lets everyone know.

Hey rubylith, I was the other guy running video that night and hung out with you guys afterwards. I have HRW's tapes. I have my tapes captured and synced up to the sbd, I just need to find a camera to capture the other tapes with. I'd like to put out the audio here too, but I've been waiting for a setlist post, I might need someone to help me track it out.

So Recher was a wonderful surprise for me. The last TIMe I had been there was when Brock opened for Guster and at that TIMe they only had a small hallway behind the stage which was used as THE dressing room. Once you put a table in there with hospitality on it you could barely move. I am overjoyed to say that they have expanded their dressing room area and it is now quite cush including a community room with a pool table as well as individual dressing rooms for the bands complete with wireless internet. Yahoooo! They took great care of us there and we ended up having a wonderful turnout with GREAT show. It was great that almost all of the audience got there early enuf to catch the openers including our own Matt Winn who ended up selling out of CD's that nite due to his overwhelming response. It seems like a great nite was had by all. We got to hang with Matt before show which was nice and the Cahill bros. and gang came back to the lush dressing rooms to say HIGH after the show. The setlist for the evening was as follows:

Exposed Janitors
Betrayal
Rheg OR Chatterbox
The Truth
Che
Indoctrinate
Sputnik Orbit Malfunction
-----------------------------------------
Hands Full
Doom
Sinceritox
Ancestors
Hold On
----------------------------------------
Kundalini
Hotel Vast Horizon
Asteroid Scarf
Into Infinity
Drone Nut Drain Pipe Theory
-------------------------------------------
Stream
You Can't Know
Revolution All Around
Very Temporary Pickle
---------------------------------------------
666 OR
Come To Daddy OR
Mark of the Teeth OR
Cold Sweat - LSD Soldiers

I think this was the first TIMe that TR undertook CW Hotel Vast Horizon, unfortunately I missed it. I am told it was beautiful, Rew said he witnessed it from the audience with Dave Cahill and Rew said they were both pretty choked up. I did finally witness it at the Private Function in Nags Head and that performance literally brought tears to my eyes. TR really has found a CW song that was made for him. I am looking forward to hearing the recording. Memory is failing now as it has been over a week since the shows but somewhere toward the end of the TouR TR did 666 and Come To Daddy together and they flowed together so perfectly. The recordings should bare out where this happened. Might have been at the Jewish Mother in VA Beach which unfortunately was not recorded. The LSD Soldiers comment at the end was a direct result of something we watched in the dressing room before the set. It was from a link sent to us by Mike Sokolowski. Here is the link if you want to check it out...

After "You Can't Know" there is one song before "Revolution All Around the World" then it is the set break and Tim goes into come to daddy. I'm trying to figure out if the song in between is "Very Temporary Pickle" since it's on the setlist but obviously not in the spot listed. Does anybody that was there remember by chance? I will try and get an mp3 clip of it up later too.

Cree, sorry i can't be of assistance on that mystery song,
but I would like to echo the sentiments for "Hotel Vast Horizon." this was a particularly strong song and really inspired an eery and intense mood in the audience. I had never heard the song before, but am glad that TR introduced me to it.

Cryptic is always a word that jumps to mind when I think about Chris Whitley's lyrics! I can't wait to download TR's version.

Steve Hackett: "I'm my own opening act, you see."
Tim (before "Faceoff"): "Peace, love....and SEX!"
