Great venue, exceptional staff!!! I don't think we have ever been treated so good at a venue. Utter professionals. The room was an 60 year old theater and it looked beautiful. Drew, the house light guy did a wonderful job with the lights. Looked awesome, sounded great. Look forward to going back. Small sidenote, there was an in-house photographer there who took some pics of TR onstage. I happened to be wearing one of my Chris Whitley t-shirts and The Granada was one of the last 3 shows that Chris Whitley played. The staff there told me that the CW show was fantastic which I was happy to hear. I discovered later that the guy who took photos had also taken photos of CW at that last performance. It turns out that one of the photos he took ended up on the inside cover of CW's new Reiter In CD. If you have it, it's the one with Chris at the mike with the light shining down on him. BEAUTIFUL picture. Teri(my sister) happened to be flying in from Germany to see my parents for their anniversary and her birthday and she managed to get there for most of the show and brought my parents with her. It was wonderful to see all of them. My dad hung out and chatted with TR and some of his friends while I went and settled. TR's friends in attendance were folks he had played with over 30 years ago. They both had actually gone to see him perform in church way back in the day as well as playing in a band with TR back then. It was really kewl to meet them. TR brought alot of photos from back in the 70's of the band and so did the other guys so I got to see alot of pics of TR jamming back in the 70's. TR said they were just as he remembered them. It was really kewl meeting folks from TR's jaded past. LOL All in all a great nite!!
The show was recorded and we are in possession of the CD's. I haven't heard them yet as TR took possession of them so he could give it a listen. I will get them back before we part at the end of the run, so you can look forward to those hitting the boards soon. Rew told me he saw Josh there with his video camera, but by the TIMe TR came on we couldn't find him so I don't know if he captured the show on video or not. We will have to wait for his reappearance on the board to find out. Hope everything is OK, seems weird for him to vanish before TR's set. He was in Tahlequah, OK for that show and he shot video there but said he didn't think it came out to good. That is the only recording of Tahlequah. That nite I talked to Josh and he said he was coming to Dallas and he was gonna get to the venue at soundcheck so he could get set up in a good spot, by doors I had not seen him.

Bad ass. I'm glad the tours back on, I like hearing daily updates and reviews/setlists of shows. It's getting me fired up even more. |

This was my first Tim show and it was amazing. From the great venue, excellent opener, and awesome setlist everything was perfect!
Glad to hear the venue treated yall well, I really enjoyed it. The way GA was setup no one was ever cramped and I could actually move around. For about half the show I stood right at Tim's feet watching the magician play his instrument. I was wondering if he usually plays that long, 12 came around and i figured he would be winding down but he had plenty of good stuff left in him!
Glad yall had a good experience in Dallas, come back ANYTIME! Awaiting downloads...

Forgot to mention.....
You may have noticed Descent on this show and from Lubbock, well that is a Fear Factory cover done instrumentally. KevinLesko should add that to the TRcovers Master List. |

got an email from josh, and some of what he said:
"Fluffy was kind enough to put me on the list and that allowed me the chance to film from any spot in the Granada...and originally I was near the stage..but talked myself out of it because the stage was so high. My camera has a great zoom so I moved back to the 2nd level so that I could include the entire stage in the recording."
so both copies are on my way to mix and author
as always people, i will keep you updated on my progress.
as for aud audio, here is what josh said as well:
"I did speak with a guy with an awesome set up recording the audio...he mentioned it would be available on etree very soon.."
so looks like we will have both soundbaord and an audience recording soon. |

Hey Fluffy,...sorry we missed each other in Dallas. I figured I would run into you at some point but our paths never crossed. I kept an eye out..but didn't see you.
The Granada was a wonderful venue, Looking forward to another show at this venue in the future...beautiful place. I will make it a priority to thank Peter and Mike(owner)for providing Dallas with such a wonderful live music venue with unique character. It was a treat to have 2 performances back to back that were both displayed in old theatres. The lighting, sound and layout of the venue was nothing short of professional. As mentioned by fluffy...amazing work on the lighting..some of the best I've seen....really set the mood for each phase of the show. It enjoyed the heavy red lighting at times and I think it added to TR's inspiration and produced an outstanding performance.
Originally i was on the floor ( when I was talking to Rew) but noticed a 2nd level and the thought of getting the venue and stage lighting on film was too much to stand...so I moved to the 2nd level. Because the stage was so high...my gear was set up on the long bar on the front row..and several people were sitting, tapping, and moving the bar...this would have been a disaster had I stayed put...so i moved.
With the audio from the sound board..it should turn out spectacular. I noticed an ipod hooked into the board...I asked the sound guy and he mentioned the TR crew requested a copy of the performance...so I wasn't worried about the sound quality. Also, I spoke with a guy who will be uploading the live recording to etree very soon.
The Dallas stop is near the top of my list, what a great show. He managed to hit some of my favorable songs..such as...you are my sanity, Flourescence, Betrayal and big blast of hot air among several others mentioned on the set list!!!!
When I heard Bridge Of Sighs..I was speechless. So much that I forgot to hit record....DAMNIT! I had a hard time that night getting over that. It was so hard to focus on recording the entire set because I was extremely consumed in a euphoric state of mind. It was beautiful.
Once the video is released..hopefully with 2 cams...and sound board quality audio..this should be a great addition to the TR family.
From seeing TR 2 days prior in a very small community in Oklahoma playing to a very small crowd .....to a huge performance in Dallas was a great experience. Im thankful for the "realness" that TR carries with him. He doesnt set himself apart or put himself at a higher level that the person standing right next to him and I admire him for that. This also speaks for Fluffy and Rew.. all Amazing guys who mean a lot to me.
Thanks for putting on one hell of a show in Dallas
Later on, Josh Martin |

Rock on Brother and let's stay in touch.

Hey Riceboy, as always, the setlist I post is a copy of the setlist as it appeared in front of TR. When I post it it usually does not reflect any changes, additions, OR deletions that occur at the whim of TIM. It is basically a guideline for tapers and for the folks who will eventually track the shows. So it wasn't left off, more accurately it was added at the whim of TIM and therefore did not appear on TR's setlist. I am sure it will be listed in tracklisting for the recording. |

Glad you made it Josh, wish I had seen you. I was up in the balcony for most of the show as my parents were seated right behind the soundboard. Looks like there are lots of recordings of this show. Can't wait to see what surfaces. I have the board recordings of this performance. Finally got it back from TR and listened to it on the way home from Santa Fe. Came out nice, only problem is, the soundguy who recorded it was nice enuf to try and track the show for me. Unfortunately, after listening to the recording, everywhere there was a track mark there is like a 1 sec pause or something. In most cases, he caught it between songs but on a few he caught it in the first few seconds of the song so the song will start and then a 1 sec pause and the song continues. As far as continuity for an anal retentive virgo as myself its quite annoying. I think Soldo told me once he had some program on his computer where he said he could isolate soundwaves and actually cut out the pauses with no loss. I will have to look into that. Anyway, it is what it is, it was a great show and luckily we have it recorded if even with some minor gliches. Maybe they can be worked out. |

(posted elsewhere by riceboy) quote: Fluffy, whats up, I met the other Tim, guy always wearing a black cowboy hat out front in Dallas, I think Tim's crew is almost starting to recognise me. Maybe not.
After finding out that being a Colorado snowboarder makes Texas chicks wet, I made my way to the stage and requested "Come Together" as I always do, I think Tim maybe noticed the one snowboarder lookin guy five feet away, when he said "hold on dude" and then played it.
Thanks Tim
But I had to leave early, at the encore silence....friend had to take the overly drunk girl home........
Yea, just like usual, "Come Together" raised the roof, just like it did in Aspen and Boulder. Thanks again Tim. See ya at the next show, by the way, that was a bad ass show in Dallas. Better than the Boulder show, but not better than the Aspen show.
Blake
Now my comment above should make more sense as to why it was not on the original setlist. hehe |

hey fluffy, yeah that pause you can fix. usally by ripping the cd to PC in wav format. then burning it again and making sure you take out all pauses in between songs. i can do it pretty easily and im sure enthuTIMsiast can handle that too as well as put it on archive.org for everyone. then i can use it for the dvd. |

Just thought I'd say I really enjoyed the show too. After a long day I thought it would be difficult to stay out until 12:30 AM, but I was so enthralled with the show the time just flew by; when the encore came around I couldn't believe it had been two hours!
As Fluffy said, my parents and I were able to hang out a bit with TR and friends backstage afterward. He played a few songs for us back there and the one my dad is now telling everyone about is a classical piece he copied from Yo Yo Ma (who is a cellist for those of you who don't know). It was pretty cool; too bad we didn't record back there too. (Sorry!) |

Remind me when I am back in DC which will be after the 13th. Keep in mind I am working 14th-16th so it might have to be after that. I also have to get pics to Marcus and his crew from that run of shows. Lots to do, so hard to keep up, SORRY! I will do my best. |

I really enjoyed the opener at this show, Woodbelly. I have caught a few of their shows since then since they are local but still dont have a CD or good recording of their stuff. Did any of the tapers at this show happen to get the opener as well? I really would love to have a copy of this performance as it was exceptional and kinda rare since it was missing their drummer. Thanks |

and just an update on a dvd from this show....
I got the audio from Fluffy yesterday and spent the day ridding the cds of the dreaded 1 second gaps between the songs. It wasn't Fluff's fault but how it was recorded from the soundboard.
So the audio is fixed.
This is going to be a 2cam mix and I have one source already for the video and got ahold of Josh yesterday and he is sending me his video as well.
I'll get a ew clip up with the sbd audio synch'd with it this week so people can see something new.
Thanks again Fluffy for the audio. |

what is up josh martin, no replying to emails or anything. well i have synch'd the angle i have now with the sbd, which was afucking bitch to synch. taking that 2 second gap didnt do anything for the synching with the video. it seems that the soundguy also did a fade in and out to a pause when he did the tracking. to say the least i had to synch every single song. but it is done and i just need to make some menus and put everything together now.
josh martin please email at john@johnsemon.com so we can arrange you sending me the video. you ahve other footage as well that you were to send me. |
