You know how he slaps the guitar kind of between the first three bar chords in Decline in Reason? I can't figure out how he does that. I know he plays the low open D and then the open A and D together, and somehow he manages to hit the guitar at the same time. I really want to learn how to do this. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and how to do it? He does the same thing throughout Hopeful Heresy too, by the way. It is so badass.
You have to spread your thumb and them pair your ring finger and your middle and flap them back and forth one hitting the open D and the other hitting the shoulder of the guitar on the downbeat. I think, i really hope that helps.
How does Tim do that thing in DIR?
