The time is 7:30 P.M. The clock of the Texas Union Tower sounds off as I'm walking along the Hogg Auditorium. Tim, Will, and Fluffy are talking near a side entrance as I pass and enter through the front door. Anxiously waiting with 200 other people, the show starts at about 8:30 with Will's opening act. The crowd is almost silent during his performances, but his booming voice fills the empty space. He plays his share of 3 electric and 2 acoustic songs, and bids farewell as the crowd applauses his introduction for Tim. As the stage hands are taking away Will's guitars and bringing in Tim's, I notice the Martin 6-string and 12-string acoustic guitars, but no electric: the show was 100% acoustic.
Tim is welcomed to his ecstatic audience and opens up with a test introduction. Once he feels his guitar is comfortably tuned, he starts out with a few slow, mysterious songs like Stranger in a Strained Land, then kicks it into full gear with Open It Up, Let It In and Danger/Doom. He walks off stage and bows with a standing ovation. Some left expecting the show was over, but within a few minutes he literally tumbles back on stage and plays a series of mind-blowing songs: All You Need is Love, Loose Interpretations, and Kundalini Bonfire. After the show, I stood with a group of avid fans as they waited for autographs. I also had the opportunity to meet Tim, Fluffy, and the crew who proved to be very nice and welcoming people. Thanks for putting on a great show and visitng afterwards.
Also, I'm working on editing the show and putting up some pictures. This was my first show to go to, so the filming isn't the greatest because I was more interested in watching him then capturing it on film. The tape was only 60 minutes and the battery was low, but I captured some of the crowd favorites. It should take about 2-3 days to get it all cleaned up and posted. I'm looking forward to seeing another show in the future, and once again I thank Tim and the crew. |

Awesome review! Glad you recorded some of the show, too.
You're right about Fluffy and Rew.. they're a great crew!
Mind if I ask... how do you transfer from camcorder to computer? What type recorder, etc? I'm curious because I'll be doing that sometime myself, and I've basically got no clue. |

| I'm in a Media Technology class so they have a tape deck that's hooked up via USB port, but on some cameras you can hook it up from DV to USB (you can get these cables from webcams, cameras, etc. but if you don't have one they sell for about 2 dollars), or S-Video. You might need software or a driver to do it, but if you do it's somewhere on the internet. If things come to worse and you can't do that, I would plug it in through those red/white/yellow AV cords and record with a VCR or DVD player. |
