I will be out on tour from Feb 17-March 17. I just wanted to let everyone know since I might be a tad slow in posting to the message board. As always, it depends on available FREE TIMe and internet connections. You can bet I will checking in as often as I can. I will also be updating TR's upcoming TouR as I get new info as fast as I can. Please be patient, I will do the best I can.
For those interested, I will be crossing this great country of ours with the following acts: A Girl Called Eddy
http://www.agirlcallededdy.com/eddy.html Website has samples of songs. It looks like a turntable and you have to lift the arm of the turntable and put it on the record using your cursor(very kewl, but was hard to figure out, no instructions DUH!!)
and Keren Ann http://www.bluenote.com/kaplayer/ Check out the tracks: Road Bin(reminds me of Donovan instrumentally on this track while still calling Chris Whitley to mind ala Kick the Stones BEAUTIFUL!) Sailor & Widow(prolly my fave track on the album)
I actually LOVE the entire album so try sampling all the tracks.
The tour dates are as follows:
2/17/2005 Tonic New York, NY (KEREN ANN ONLY) 2/24/2005 The Hotel Cafe Los Angeles, CA 2/25/2005 The Fold at Tangier Los Angeles, CA 2/26/2005 Swedish American Hall Cafe Du Nord San Francisco, CA 2/28/2005 The Tractor Tavern Seattle, WA 3/03/2005 7th St. Entry Minneapolis, MN (A Girl Called Eddy ONLY) 3/04/2005 Hot House Chicago, IL (A Girl Called Eddy ONLY) 3/06/2005 The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern Toronto, Canada 3/07/2005 Main Hall Montreal, Canada (A Girl Called Eddy ONLY) 3/08/2005 The Middle East Cambridge, MA 3/09/2005 Fez New York, NY 3/10/2005 Joe's Pub New York, NY 3/11/2005 World Cafe Live(WXPN) Philadelphia, PA 3/12/2005 IOTA Arlington, VA (MATINEE Doors 2PM)
Hope to see some of you in my travels!!

Hmmmmmm, looks like I might have to try to make it out to one of those Los Angeles shows. I'm quite familiar with A Girl Named Eddy, as Virgin really pushed that album when it came out. I know I have a copy laying around, I'll have to re-visit it. Have a safe trip!

I agree Fluffy, Keren Ann has a beautiful voice! I listened to the sample tracks, loved them so much I ended up buying the album as well as one of A Girl Called Eddy! Amazon had them paired together! Once again, thanks for adding spice in my life! I am very excited to go to the show at the World Cafe! It should be a fun night!

I really liked all the samples I heard too, and wonder will there be Cd's for purchase at the shows? I always like to support the tour that way.See you in San Francisco. Peace, Robin |

Glad you liked them everyone, I love turning people onto new tunes. I actually discovered them AFTER I got hired! Looking forward to seeing all my old friends in foreign places. As for CD's, I am already in possession of the Keren Ann CD's, so unless we sell out in LA before we get to SF, we should have them. We are supposed to have AGCE CD's as well, but we are picking those up in LA, so I am not positive we will have them, but we are supposed to. We will also have t-shirts, unlike a certain artist I could mention. HEHE |

Wish I could make it out to San Fran to see the shows. Well, hopefully I'll get to catch you the next time you come around the west coast, Fluffy. |

Now that you're touring with Europeans, do you think you'll ever get to go on tour in Europe? |

Both CD's came yesterday and I have been listening to them non-stop! Both are wonderful pieces of art, very soothing, calming.
(A Girl Called Eddy and Keren Ann, Not Going Anywhere)
Robin, I can understand you want to support the tour which is definitely a good idea, but there is an added advantage of buying them before hand which is becoming familiar with the songs. I find I enjoy a concert more if I know the works of the artist prior to the concert. I have been to some that are completely new to me and that was fun as well, but there is something about loving a song, then hearing it live that can touch the soul. Just my opinion of course. Either way, I think you will have a wonderful experience at the show.
Once again, thanks Fluffy! See you on the 11th! |

I bummed I couldn't make it to either L.A. show, but work has been too crazy for me lately, and I get off work at 6:00pm, so to drive in Los Angeles traffic at that time of day, I'd never have made in time for either show. Hope the shows are going well!! |

Hey Pam, I wasn't intending to have somehow sounded self rightous about supporting the tour by buying cd's at the show. I'm into getting music before a show as well. It was nice to not really be familiar in a way. I could only buy one Cd so I had to listen to both artists before deciding and chose AGCE. I ran into her in the hall and talked to her for a short time. I loved both artists and just was feeling partial to Eddy after her set. She signed my Cd later too. I think you're going to really enjoy the show. Especially since you are familiar with all the songs! Peace, Robin |

Robin, I am so glad you loved the show. I NEVER thought you were self rightous for wanting to buy your cd at the show. I was simply giving another point of view, thats all. If I offended you in any way please forgive me, it was never my intention. Its wonderful that you got to meet Eddy and that she signed your cd. I think that is one of the nice things about seeing lesser known artists, the music is awesome and they are not hid away at the shows.
I am so excited to go to the show. My son, daughter and some of their friends are going with me. It is great to expericnce music with your kids.
Music is my religion. this Friday I am seeing the LA Guitar Trio!

No worries or forgiveness necessary. So cool taking the kids to the show. There were some young (12 or so years old) there with their family to see Keren Ann. Peace, Robin |

She did, and it was really wonderful. The litte family in front of me was so cute, they kept hugging each other and looking around with big smiles as she sang. My French is very minimal, but I enjoyed her so much. I've had to postpone my lessons as I try to complete my schooling for Homeopathy.I'm under the gun so to speak now, with a deadline looming. I was so grateful for Fluffy telling me about this show beacuse I really needed a break.Peace,Robin |

Kevin, the show was amazing. I am getting ready to leave to take my son back to PSU, a three hour drive for me, but I promise I will write a review in the next couple of days if not tonight when I get back. My son went to the show with me and he had a great time too. He was also happy to finally meet Fluffy! |

Kevin, first let me say that the World Cafe in Philly is a great place to hear live music. I don't know what the seating capacity was but there were plenty of tables, a uniquely quaint menue selection and a totally awesome bar. I had a glass of Merlot and some calamari. Excellent!
Keren Ann gave a wonderful opening act. Her voice is so soft and sweet. I am a blurr at what all she sang but do know she sang my favorite, End of May. She did a great job with Sailor and Widow, but had a pause before ending each stanza which is not on the album. Anyone who knows the song knows how the words are sung quickly and its a difficult piece to perform. She was wonderful! She sang two songs in French which sent my mind into crash mode trying to revive my memory of the language.....4 years of French down the drain, oh well. I did understand some words. She sang By the Cathedral, Road Bin, Not Going Anywhere, and Right Now and Right Here. I know I am missing some.
On to A Girl Called Eddy, who also sang my favorites, Life Thru the Same Lens, Did You See The Moon Tonight, Tears All Over Town, Golden, and a song that she wrote for the movie Love Actually, that didn't make it into the movie. That was funny because when she introduced that song she explained that it didn't make it into the movie, she said she never saw the movie to which some guy from the audience yelled out that the movie sucked anyway and she smiled and hit her fist on her heart.
I was more drawn to AGCE, I don't know why, just preference I guess. They both put on a great show and I was once again reminded why I love seeing lesser known bands in smaller venues as there is an interaction that happens between the artist and the audience that just can't be duplicated at the mega venues. The ticket prices were so reasonable, cheap compared to the big venues and we definitely got so much more than we paid for! Awesome show! Thanks Fluffy for getting the word out on this one. (Also great to see you again!)

Dave, I wish I had known that, I would have tried to go to that one. If you play there, or anywhere around Philly, please post it on the boards. I admit that I was pretty busy and wasn't reading the boards much in January so if you did post that one, I missed it.
That goes for anyone else on here, like Matt Winn. I am sorry I missed you in Manayunk, Matt. I think everyone here really wants to support each others music. There are a lot of talented musicians on this board. |
