Is it just me or are ticket prices out of control? I mean, Tim's prices are perfectly reasonable and you get to see him in an intimate venue...everybody wins. Then I'm online buying tickets for Sarah McLachlan (yeah, yeah...girlfriend) and with tax, title, registration and convenience fees, I'm up over $120 for 2 floor seats. Remember the days when the expensive concerts were $30?
Even DMB or D+F which are two of my favorite acts of all time are in the same level. I can appreciate those shows more than most, because they typically last longer and the quality is superb. But how can these other acts be filling venus at $60 a ticket when half of their songs suck? Not saying Sarah McLachlan sucks, I don't know very much about her. I realize that the consumer has the discretion, but it must really suck for people that love a band and can't shell out $100+ for an evening's entertainment. |

I'm not sure if this is how it is in other big cities, but in LA, you can tack on another 10 bucks for parking. I agree... its getting ridiculous. |

LOL. She usually outdoes me in the Christmas gift department, so I'm trying to step it up this year. I also kinda missed the anniversary gift, so that didn't go over very well. I need to come up with a couple more solid gifts. Maybe a whip is in order. |

Perhaps the increase in ticket prices is due to the decreased number of album sales from online downloading.
Perhaps we are doing this to ourselves?? |

I'll buy plenty of albums as long as they are artists I respect and enjoy. IE Tim, Flecktones, Ben Folds, Peter Gabriel, etc, etc. |

I don't know I paid like $60 to see DMB a few years back and it just ended up being a waste of money for the most part. Out of all the shows I've seen which isn't really a lot it's pretty low on the list. Considering I can pay under $25 to see Victor Wooten's band and be close enough that when he does the magic trick and leans forward incredibly far I could reach up and touch his bass if I wanted to, I don't even consider going to see a show where I sit way back in a crowd to listen to some people play the the same stuff night in and night out. Like I wanted to see Norah Jones but the ticket prices were ridiculous. I'd rather just hear it on the album I already have then the same thing live.
Even the Flecktones were only $25. I think that it's basically safe to say that anyone who is charging more than $50 for a standard show is pretty much a greedy bastard. |

It has everythig to do with greed and companies like "TicketBastard". They set the precedent years ago, by upping prices with all the service fees they tack on and it opened the door. I went to the Fillmore a few months back to see Gillian Welch. The only way to get tix besides at the venue was thru Ticket Master. I ordered online, and they suggest you print the tix. Cool, I'm fine with that, but they also want to charge you like ten bucks to do it! On YOUR own computor! I did will call and they charged a small fee. It's way out of control. Peace, Robin |

Ya people have given me crap in the past for getting a lot of shows, but if I own all the albums and I see them live when they come which I know at least with the Flecktones accounts for like 70% of their income, I really don't think I'm hurting anything especially when they endorse trading and such. |

The Archive is one of the greatest contributions the internet has made to my life. And to the world of music in general. I can't imagine anyone not approving of its services. Especially in our over hyped, over priced period of pop crap. |

Robin, i paid just under 25 to see Gillian Welch...stood right up, leaning against the stage underneath Dave's guitar...One of the best shows of my life...there's some people who deserve the 25 dollar ticket price. |
