BLAST!!!

So about a week ago my left ear started killing me... that kind of feeling when you accidentally poke your eardrum with a q-tip, except constant. Then a few days later I lost hearing in that ear. I tried to make an appointment with my doctor, but he was booked for 2 weeks. I've never had an ear infection either so it worried me. I finally couldn't take it anymore and just went to the emergency room at the hospital on Friday. They had to flush my ear out for about an hour and sure enough, I had an infection. The good news is I got Vicodin for the pain but man... I've got to say that this has been one of the worst, most painful, annoying things I've ever had happen to me. Really made me appreciate having hearing, as I couldn't imagine listening to music like that for the rest of my life. Anyways, I'm on my way to recovery right now, but who know a little ear infection could cause so much trouble.

I had a shit load of ear infections when I was little, and then when I was 12 or 13 I had swimmer's ear. I've heard that it is the worst ear infection to get. Ear infections suck ass.

Ears suck when they get sick. I had a sinus infection a few years ago that did the same thing. Constant pain, like a q-tip being pushed up against the drum, and I couldn't hear out of it. After two weeks of it not going away I went to a doctor and antibiotics and flonase fixed it up in a day.

Speaking of bursted eardrums, a friend of mine was flying from Pennsylvania to Arizona. As soon as the plane got to cruising altitude both his eardrums burst. The strongest pain reliever they had was tylenol and he had to deal with the pressurization changes for 5 hours in agony.

Ouch.

when i went to the emergency room with my ear infection I was actually seen very quickly.

I wonder if I was there at a lucky time or they understand the agony people go through.

Then again, they pretty much told me 'sucks to be you, take some tylenol and wait it out'

I've had a ton of infections in my life and I've never had that buzzing problem before. Are you sure it came from the infection?

While we're talking about ears.

Does anyone ever get that feeling like the insid eof their ear is itchy and it feels like you could scratch it from insid eyour mouth? It's weird but I get it once in while. Maybe I was built wrong.

welcome gill4president, are you french or something? Your signature is... interesting

yea well they didn't tell you to shutup in the meanest way. It literally translates into 'close your mouth'. What did you do to deserve that?

I don't know if it is in the meanest way, but she wasn't telling me directly. I was asking her to tell me stuff in french and that was one of the things she told me. She is really cool.

I'm watching the bleeding ear skit on Kids in the Hall right now and it made me think of this thread. That is all.

Whoa! No one seemed to mention the fact that he got VICODIN for the pain. Man, I have little kids come into the office with eardrums on the brink of eruption and they cool out with tylenol. All I have to say is: overkill. But hey, way to score drugs. I think I feel something brewing in my ear...
