I don't stand for tyranny. I live in the deciding state, and to be quite frank I have lost all faith in my country if it elects this worm of a man to be in charge of it again. Plus, Canada is pretty. So get off my fucking case and jump on the bus with us, we could use you to bitch out the border guards. |

The people in this country are so stupid it's unbelievable. I thought I was building up a tolerance of right wing conservitive assholes and now it's completely gone. I've never really liked this country and I'll be now seriously looking in to where I want to live to get the hell out of here. |

you all have the right to be unhappy with our political system, our two-party system, our new President, or whatever, and i respect that. I admit I'm anti-Bush to a certain extent, and I would have much rather seen Kerry in office. But be fucking happy you live in the richest and most prosperous country in the world and that your life will always be better than the billions of others who live elsewhere. Bush is taking another term, and he got the majority vote. Possibly an ignorant, uninformed majority, but chances are we're living with him for another 4 years, so deal with it. I find it very stuck up for someone to say they're so fed up with AMERICA, the home of the free, that they make comments like they want to go kill themselves or move to a foreign country, even if they're just kidding.
God Bless America, God Bless those who respect America, and God Bless Bush, and let's all hope things shape up better for him this next term. |

I'm gonna start raising money for people who want to go to Canada or Mexico. It's their choice! Hell, I've got three hundred dollars, that should be enough to get a few car loads of people to Mexico.
Then finally, I won't have to hear people bitching about going there. |

I love what this country is SUPPOSED to be. I have news for everyone, the country is NOT like it's supposed to be. Granted, we are free and able to do what we wish, but look at our society. Anyone that says the place hasn't gone down the drain is obviously living in a hole somewhere.
And I'm not happy that I'm richer and have a better life than billions. In fact, I'm pissed off that people have that attitude. It's this errogance that has brainwashed the people into what they are today. GuitarisPimp, I'm not blasting you for your opinion, it is afterall just an opinion. But when you look at the other side of the picture, the fact that the entire world around us is suffering, you should see that we need to help in other ways than militant takeovers and installing 'democracy." While I realize the fact that I'm lucky as hell to be in the USA, and that my life IS better than nearly everyone else's in the world, I do not think I am stuck up to be saying that I want to get the hell out of here. I'm not exactly proud of the fact that my country represents fear, corruption and greed when we are, in fact, the most able to actually make the lives of billions better rather than making money off of their unfortunate circumstances.
I am, however, ready to deal with another Dubya term. Just four more years of complaining and bitching and frivilous moaning about a man who doesn't know his ass from his eyeball. I'm terrified that he's the most powerful man in the world, but I'm ready to deal with it. It's not just Dubya that makes me upset with this country, it's the people who let errogance and greed get in the way of humanitarianism. We are people, they are people. They are us and vice versa. It does no good to keep all to ourselves when, as you said, we have it better than billions simply because we live in the good ol' USA. Parents are burying their children around the world because they cannot feed them-food is not a comodity. Food is a need for life. Shelter, clothing, all of that. The majority of Americans have all of these in abundant supply, and I'm supposed to be grateful? What about the others who don't have it as good as we do? The people who send their kids out to the dump every morning for food, the people who slave away 14 hours a day making Nike's for ten cents an hour and a bowl of rice-we all seem to have the attitude that "nothing can really be done about it. At least it's not me." Bullshit. The human race has begun it's descent into the shithole, and it's gaining speed too quickly to be stopped. Except in Canada, they have good bacon. |

i think alan greenspan is the most powerful man in the world.
i think we should be helping people around the world, and the fact that we're not sucks. but what does leaving all of those things you're fortunate enough to have behind accomplish? if you refused yourself these things that you have, how would that help those who have nothing? it wouldn't. it would be a waste. they'd still be deserpate and poor, and you would have less, too. bravo. |

American Idealism and propaganda at it's best. You have it so good already so don't complain and just be happy. Nevery mind the fact that we've been literally screwing the world over for the last fifty years. Never mind that we treat south america and the carribean like colonies. Or never mind how we have supported some of the most brutal regimes in history for economic gain. Never mind how the top 1% of this country owns 40% of the private wealth. Or how the top 7% owns like 67% of the countries wealth. Never mind that our schools are going down the drain while we fund war upon war. Never mind the fact that we kill thousands of people with these weapons. Yep god bless america cause we are really great. Yes the land of the free unless you were black 60 years ago or if you are gay today. Or if you believe that corporations shouldn't run the world. Or if you would like your library records to be private. Or if you get put on the wrong list then you can be held as unarmed combatant without charges. Something that's against the geneva convention. So ya we're lucky to be in the country that is screwing over so many and no one even cares or realizes it because of the great propaganda system we have. |

Zach, just to play devil's advocate... you DO realize what kind of political system corrects all of the problems you seem to have with the US, right? Especially your issue with the divided class system. It works beautifully on paper, but in practice, not so much. |

Dan is right, Jay. By leaving the country and trashing everything you've made for yourself in America, that doesn't help anyone else. What gives you the right to take everything you have to call you own for granted just because others have it so much harder than we do? Just because you sympathize and want to help others doesn't mean you have to be disgusted at your own wealth. And in case you haven't realized yet, America is a democracy. That means the people living in it, at least the majority of them, directly reflect the policy we have. Yeah, I agree, people are people, and politicians are no acception. They're just people, people who have been voted into office, or appointed by someone who has been voted into office. Yeah, sucks to be Black 60 years ago, but that's because >50% of the AVERAGE JOEs thought Blacks were inferior. Gays aren't getting married now because the majority of the population has appointed a President with those views. Don't blame our politics and the people we put in power. These people represent our majority, so blame society as a whole. You can't just point your finger at the Government when the Government is only serving the people.
My main point is I realize we have it way better than others, and we should sympathize for them and help them as much as possible in my opinion, but apparently the majority of America is just fine sitting in their houses and enjoying our wealthy lives.
I can already forsee someone coming back at me saying that our system of Democracy is inefficient because the majority of the population is ignorant and uninformed, or for some reason along those lines. For those of you who believe that, then I guess you can go ahead and move out of this ignorant, yet ironically wealthy and monopolizing country we live in. |

If wealth determines happiness, then yes, this country sure does rock for old white men. I can say, however, that there are countries that enjoy more freedoms then America does and as a result are more free in my opinion. |

Full blown communism is not the only answer, countries like Norway and Sweden have been using a Capitalist economy with Socialist government for awhile now and they have arguably the best standards of living in the world.. |

I said the exact same thing in another thread, to basically the same sentiment. He essentially told me to read a book, which I had, in fact, read. We agreed to disagree. |

No James I told you there had never been a communist government on earth so how would you know if it works? Anyone with a decent knowledge of history and anyone who had read the communist manifesto would know that. That's why I suggested that if you hadn't read it not to talk about.
That said I really don't care what system we run as long as we are locking up food and living the way our culture has for the last 10,000 years. Either way there is a power structure and someone is probably getting the short end of the stick. I would like the system to be as equal as possible and with the strong government regulation of the economy it has become less and less equal. So I'm just searching for some sort of justice and the current system is way off. The government could very easily still have a capitalist system and make thing much more equal for people by regulating the economy in a way which is not wholly for the rich and ruling class.
People think this country is the greatest in the world but our standard of living is actually lower than some places. Like Fleabass said and those countries tend to be what you might call liberal. |
