Hey everyone...I'm sorta new here, but I thought I'd throw out a topic that kinda seemed unwritten but evident.
Do the hardcore Tim fans here dislike Dave Matthews? I haven't seen anyone literally complaining about him, but it must be annoying to have n00bs posting who are Tim "fans" because they can play the lil hammer-on part in Crash 
I'm not claiming anything; just a first impression of the boards  So, do most people here have kind thoughts of Dave, or not really care for him? |

Kevin- I think you'll notice that many of the people here are fans of Dave (me included).After all, most of us discovered Tim via DMB.If you were to delve into the profiles here and on many of the DMB sites, you'll recognize alot of "cross-overs". But I think out of respect and appreciation for Tim's career and style (which came long before Dave's),every one here resists bringing him up unless it's relevant to a topic.I think this really helps to keep this board as great as it is. You'll see no one getting "beat up" or criticized for what they post, like I see constantly on the DMB boards-it's very dis-heartening. It's all about TR, current events and the interests of the members. It's very "peaceful" around here!

Lindalu summed it up pretty well. I think DMB is great. I think Tim is a million times better. Whenever he played with DMB it made the show all the better, which is why I'm excited about the new live release, because it's featuring him. If it wasn't, I might not have bought it.
However, I always hope Tim won't tour or play with DMB becuase I want him to tour solo. I know it'll be a more enjoyable, personal, intimate experience. |

I've known of Dave matthews but I never really listened to his music.
Jamie M told me to listen to Stream and after procrastinating for a while I finally did. Like most others i thought it was awesome.
I told him later that he should have shown me Big Blast of Hot Air first because i think that would have blown my mind even more.
After listening to Tim and Dave off of luther I started to like dave music more for the challenge of playing it than for the pure love of listening.
Also my roomate last year was a huge dave fan |

i've noticed just the opposite. i've noticed people get a little attitude whenever someone new starts talking dave matthews stuff. you don't "beat them up" but sometimes you do get a little snide. i know many people here look down on the dave matthews message boards because they're not as hip or knowledgable as we are or whatever. i had a brief little stint on a board when someone was claiming to know a lot about music when, in fact, they fucking read only tabs.
don't worry about being a n00b. post count is fucking meaningless. i think if you run into someone who sits on a heap of posts and thinks that it somehow increases the validity of whatever flawed opinion they have, the best thing to do is to ask to continue the conversation off the message board, when no one's counting how many times you hit enter. |

Personally, I don't care about the reason people sign up for the board, just as long as they try to stick around and get to know more about Tim.
As for the DMB boards, I know not everyone on them is an asshole, it just seems that some of the people that post the most are, and I haven't had a very positive experience with them. |

Hmm...some interesting posts :) I really do like everything I've heard Tim do so far, and I would love to learn more about him. It's also nice to have such a welcoming group of members here

...I just wish you didn't have to type those f#cking []'s around a smilie whenever you want it to show up as a .gif  Not trying to put you guys down, but I've never seen a forum with that type of replacement system Who cares  |

Fluffy I looked high and low yesterday to try and post that topic for you... couldn't find the damn thing.
I'd disagree that the people here try to avoid DMB related topics, though. I think it's more that there have been so many in the past that they just don't come up as often anymore. A thread or two will pop up from time to time about the big stuff, such as a new album release, but since a lot of the people here have been here for so long, there just isn't all that much to talk about with regard to DMB anymore, especially regarding TR. |
