So, after months of considering buying the amazing album Pulse, by Pink Floyd, I found a used copy of it for seventeen dollars, instead of the new price of thirty. I know there are many PF fans on the board, and if you don't have this album, it's a live recording, get it. The second disc is basically Dark Side of the Moon live.
One of the best performed and produced live shows I have ever heard. |

I love Pink Floyd, one of my favorite bands.
I have the video of Pulse. Its pretty good. Basiclly watched the first few songs, skiped all the new stuff, then went straight to dark side.
Its a good show, but the percussion guy they have i think does way to much and he ruins a few songs. Also it is a little tainted by the fact that Roger Waters isnt on it. I dont know, i just feel it isnt really Pink Floyd with out him. Bucause Floyd was his life for so long.
But it is a good show. Song style gets kind of repetative after a while, Verse, Verse, Chorus, GUITAR SOLO, etc etc.
But anyway, its kewl.
I am still wating for a DVD of them playing THE WALL from back in 81 or sumthin. That would be great to see. |

I thought it was a great concert, even without Roger Waters. What's the story on why he split? |

What i heard it was was that Watters and Gilmore just really got on eachothers nerves. It got to the point that they couldnt be in the same room w/ eachother. Dont know the reason why, creative differences or sumthin, but i dont know. I hear that they have since gotten a bit more civil twords eachother.
So who knows... maybe a reunion tour??? |

Hopefully a Pink Floyd reunion, and a Talking Heads reunion. But I'm not going to hold my breath. |

There won't be any Pink Floyd reunion, though I wish to everything that is good in this world there would be. Damnit! I love PF, they're my favorite band of all-TIMe (next to TR). There is too much bad blood between Roger Waters and the rest of the members of Floyd. I don't think that they will ever play together again. Sad, but true.
Pulse is the best produced live recording I have ever heard. If you listen to any other live recording, you can tell that it is live at times. However, there are many points during Pulse where you question whether it is live or not. Amazingly produced and recorded. But, what is even more amazing than that is the fact that Floyd can play that well live. They have always been known for that, but once you hear this live album (especially disc 2 with the Dark Side), I think you truly appreciate their talent and music even more!
Just my thoughts on this. I have had it since 1998 and I listen to it at least once a week. I love it! Definitely a must have in the music collection! |

After doing more research on the net, it basically seems that Waters kind of started dominating everything and everyone in the band, and was cutting them out of the creative process, just using them as, basically, studio musicians.
PRS, I totally agree with you about the album. The live Dark Side is especially breath taking.
If you want a dumbed down version of "The Great Gig in the Sky" find a version of Phish covering in it. They manage to completely remove the seriousness of the song, but then a vaccum would do that. |

There is a DVD documentary about the making of DARKSIDE OF THE MOON and it is AWESOME
It's really cheap too. I got it for 25 dollars CANADIAN with tax. That less than 19 USD.
It's a really intersting DVD. You'll learn some really cool weird stuff.
ALSO! the dvd features them playing songs unplugged just for the documentary. |

If you have some free time, you should look into this: "The Publius Enigma"
- http://folk.uio.no/ericsp - http://www.pinkfloyd-co.com/unt/unt_enigma/unt_enigma.html
The first link is to what looks like the "official" site of the Publius Enigma, and the 2nd displays all of Publius' posts (it's quite long, but pretty interesting).
Basically, it all has to do with The Division Bell. When it came out in 1994, someone by the name of "Publius" posted on the alt.music.pink-floyd newsgroup, and it sparked a years-long mystery of "The Enigma".
I'm still discovering more about this band, and it's just awesome.
On a side note, today (July 28th) is Richard Wright's birthday! http://www.pinkfloyd-co.com/mast_idx.html (scroll down - middle of the page - "On this date in Pink Floyd history") |

nevermind... the more obvious name for an "official site" is, indeed... the official site. http://publiusenigma.com/ |
