Anyone else pick up DMB @ the Gorge? I haven't listened or watched the whole thing yet, but it sounds pretty cool... only thing that's jumped out at me was Carter's drum solo before launching into Halloween... So far, other than that, seems like par for the course as with other DMB live releases. |

I bought the six CD one off of the Dave site, and it is one of the greatest live collections I have ever heard. One of the key highlights, during "What You Are" Dave screams: "But you pray down on your knees, motherfuckers!"
I thought they were going to release a full DVD of it.
Anyways, don't buy the two CD version, spend the fifty bucks plus tax and shipping, and get the Six CDs. It is amazing and has totally rejuvenated the band for me.

If you like the band, get it. |

Definitely agree that it's worth picking up, the surprising Halloween alone is worth it to me. Oddly enough, #41, being one of my favorite all time songs...I found to be rather weak. His voice was kinda sketchy toward the end of that tour and when he's singing "I wanted to stay..." it just kinda irritates me. Who the hell am I to be critical though, overall it's a phenomenal set. And who can pass up Tripping Billies and Halloween FINALLY on DVD? lol |

Yeah, his voice did crap out out, but I liked the triple threat soloing at the end of it. Boyd, Butch, and LeRoi (I thought), did awesome at the end of it.
Long Black Veil was amazing too. |

I didn't know about the 6 CD thing! Man, now I'll end up spending 75 bucks total for the thing... because after hearing all that, now I have to get it. |

Yeah, I'll wind up getting the 6 CDs, probably for Xmas. The CDs with the DVD kind of suck, as far as the limited song selection. The best songs on the DVD are NOT on the CDs.
There is an insert in the CD/DVD that plugs a DMBLIVE Vol. 1 coming out soon. Check out this setlist, and guess who sits in the whole set!!!
Dave Matthews Band December 8, 1998 Worcester Centrum, Worcester, Massachusetts
Seek Up * Linus and Lucy * --> Pantala Naga Pampa * --> Rapunzel Satellite Don't Drink The Water ** Jimi Thing Stay * #41 @ So Much To Say (Anyone Seen The Bridge) * --> Too Much * Drive In Drive Out * Tripping Billies * Encore: I'll Back You Up (Dave, Carter, Tim, Stefan) Last Stop (reprise outro)**
ENTIRE SET WITH TIM REYNOLDS * with Butch Taylor ** with Butch Taylor & Bela Fleck @ with Butch Taylor, Bela Fleck, and Jeff Coffin

Yeah it does. I hope its on DVD too, but I'm doubting it since it was a show from 1998. They have yet to release a DVD of a show with Tim. Also, I'm still waiting for a live release that has Two Step with Tim.

Search through sites and download a Two Step from the Winter 98 run. I had one and it was the one with Tim and Bela, where they basically go off at the end and take over the rest of the song and jam.
Ah, the '98 tour. I'd say that was one of the best years. BTCS had come out, Everyday and Busted Stuff weren't even in view!
Oh, side question: Does anyone think DMB will ever produce an album better than Before These Crowded Streets?
Personally, I don't think so. |

That was a great album. I think the only way they could make a better studio album is if they reworked some of their old songs to be more like they are played now live, and rerecorded them, with Tim of course. I think anything off of UTTAD reworked, with some new solos and Tim solos would be great. I think the band has grown a lot musically since R2T, UTTAD and Crash.

Yeah, especially on the violin and horns.
Even if they reworked old material, I don't think it would be better than the stuff on BTCS.
I'd say the timing on the Halloween off of the Gorge set seems sped up. Even more so then the old pre-BTCS Halloweens. |

Does the 6 CD set come with the DVD or is the only way to get the DVD is to buy the DVD with the 2 CD set?
The 2 cds and the dvd were 12.00 at target. DMB's live releases are usually pretty reasonable there. I can't remember how much Central Park cost there. I usually buy DMBs releases at Target, either that or Best Buy, because they usually have good prices on release day/week.

There is no DVD with the 6 CD Set. I'd suggest waiting though, cause I'm pretty sure that they will be releasing the whole series on DVD. |

There is a version of Two Step with Tim that was on the Warehouse 5 release that went to Warehouse members. I am a Warehouse member now, but wasn't back when the CDs came out. You would think the Warehouse would offer the CDs for sale in their store, but they don't. The original Warehouse 5 CD sells on ebay for close to $100....crazy people.
