Our first assignment in my Music Theory II class was to bring in a piece of music that we liked to let the rest of the class listen to. I chose Tim's Chatterbox(studio version). I think it's great, but not quite my favorite Tim song. I wanted to go with something that the average person might like more. Anyway, the point is that after the song was over, the teacher asked the class what they liked about it. One girl commented, "I liked the bass". She thought it was two instruments, guitar and bass. When I told her it was just one guitar with no overdubs, she was astonished. Just thought you guys might get a kick out of that.

its so funny you mention that, i was thinking along the same lines lately. One of the things i love about the recordings tim makes is that they low notes come in just as sharply as the high notes, accentuating the duality of his style (bass lines and melody). One can easily mistake chaterbox, jemez, reginos, smile, or many of his other tunes for a guitar and bass.
