i have the live at luther college cd, but im hearing alot about this live at chicago cd, is it worth the buy? is there any dave and tim stuff or just the dave matthews band??? |

| You think Vic Wooten's bass solo is retarded? Hmmm. Can't please everybody I guess, but I think Vic is the man... one of the greatest bass players of today, in my humble opinion. Maybe even if that solo will never do it for you, at least do this, if you can.... download a song called "Classical Thump" or the live version of "Sinister Minister". Those have some simply mind-blowing bass solos. |

Tim's solos in Jimi, Watchtower, and LIOG are the shit. I pretty much advance each song beyond Dave's vocals, to the bands' solos and Tim's solos. His playing on the whole album is stellar.
That comment about Wooten WILL keep me up nights you know.

Ah yes Adam, well said. But whenever you get the chance, pop Warehouse 5 (1) in your cd player, and take a listen to 'Crush' and 'Two Step.' Both of Tim's solos are amazing. |

Well, I do know that some people just consider a bass solo in itself "retarded" or "stupid". And I agree some of the time. But Victor is fucking kickass at bass and his solos might as well be on guitar. And Bobby Sheehans bass solos, especially in the song Alone kick my ass every time.
RIP Bobby Sheehan. He is missed dearly.
