hey everybody

Oops, I accidentally double-posted this link in the TRelated Topics forum. the second was supposed to go here. anyway, hope everybody has some time to check out another guitarist... ME! I set up some up my music at MP3.com. There are three instrumental guitar tracks on there - I have some better, but this was a decent start I thought. Check them out and let me know what you think! Here's the site:

Well I listened, I don't know, didn't really do anything for me, but hey don't just go by how I feel. (I liked Dipole Moments better than Untouched Snow.)

Sorry, hopefully others will take the TIMe to listen.

i listened to all of them. theyre decent, and i was going to say that you have a somewhat unique sound. i took the time to download that michael hedges song, and i definitely think you could get sued for copyright infringement if you put "bipole moments" on a cd. i dont mean to sound like a jerk but if i ask people what they think of my music id prefer they were honest...it kinda sounds like youre recording stuff that just 'sounds cool.' you've got some guitar playing skills, im not challenging that. and youve got some pretyt cool stuff (except the hedges rip-off), it just needs to be developed more. take some time and put more feeling into writing your songs. keep working man.

thanks for the input, ccr. I never for a second thought i'd be seen as a Hedges rip-off cept for that one c-chord i hammer onto that is how he opens his song. That was kind of a shocker to me. I think as far as the feeling, there are some other songs on my cd that'd appreciate more. They aren't on the site cos they'll only let me post three at once. If you feel like hearing the rest, email me and i can send a cd.
truly, you're correct in your observation that I recorded some stuff just cos it sounded cool, haha. I just kinda got off on this harmonic tapping binge. Well, I haev only been playing this kinda stuff for a half year so hopefully the feeling and meaning will come with TIMe. thanks again, take care

I think you just need someone to play bongos and bass with you and that stuff will come alive. I think it maybe needs a little more of a melodious feel to stand alone, but good stuff nonetheless! I'm sure it's fun to watch you play those songs with all the two handed tapping.

How do you "tap". Just listening to your music and enjoyed it. Learning to play guitar myself and would like to know how you are making those harmonic sounds in Dipole Moments.

I agree with Silky...it definitely needs some percussion. Little pace quickening might help too. Not too bad though.

the harmonics in Dipole Moments aren't taps really. I put my first finger ( right hand) on the harmonic node and pluck it with my thumb behind the finger. it is like pointing and clicking, haha.

I'll explain it a little more in depth than JFP. I'm assuming that you know how to play standard harmonics on the 12th, 7th, and 5th frets. OK. If you want to play a harmonic on say the 2nd fret, you hold your finger down on the 2nd fret and place your right index finger on the string above the 14th fret and pluck the string with your thumb. Hope this helps.

Also, if you already understood what JFP said, then this is for all of those that don't know about it.

i dont think thats called tapping. I call them Japanese Harmonics. Tapping i thought was the stuff you hear in Eruption. God i hate that song.

yeah, i agree with erich's POV on eruption. yuck. just an opinion though. As for my taps, like in No Bedtime, I just hit the fretboard at the harmonic node, with the right hand. I didnt do the 2(14) style fretted harmonics as pcbTIM explained, at least not in this song. I used an altered tuning so that I could use the regular harmonics to create somewhat of a melody. I didn't fret them because the left hand was busy doing hammer and pull figures.
