Im almost finished with it and it was great
but there were a couple things i was unclear on....ill have to read it again

Pick ME! I read it a few years ago, its def. good, but kinda hard to follow at points. Good book for the history of the hobbit folk!

the parts that were the most confusing to me were visualizing the different kingdows of the elves in the first age and the geography of Beleriand

I will be honest here... The first 100 pages of the Silmarillion I wanted to shoot myself. So much loong detail and description and explanation... definitely confusing! But when it gets to Turin and Beren&Luthien and that stuff, I like it from there.

i liked that part too
and the final battle of the first age
but the lotr section was very short compared to the rest

Agreed.
Yeah, I though that was really funny how he hardly even mentions the Fellowship, and makes it look so insignificant.

I love the Silmarillion it's one of my favorite books. It's beautiful, but it is definitely biblical. Read it again and again. It's so awesome, definitely inspires me to be a writer.
