trevor jones (last of the mohicans)
clint mansell (requiem for a dream)
michael nyman (the piano)

First thing that came to mind for me was Requiem For a Dream as well.. awesome stuff. I was wondering if that song from RFAD was going to be in Two Towers since it was in a lot of the TV spots, but I didnt catch it. Also, since I'm a huge Peter Gabriel fan, I've got to mention his soundtrack for the Rabbit Proof Fence, thats a great score, and one of my favorite cd's to listen to as I'm falling asleep.

Actually, just now while I was thinking about Requiem, I remembered that the music from Pi was just as effective/chilling.

And I really liked Carter Burwell's stuff on It Could Happen To You. Sure it was only two songs, but they were awesome.

Don't remember the composer but one of my all time favorite music scores was from Platoon.
