Since the ftp site is currently down i was wondering if anyone was willing to send me a good video recording of tim playing stranger in a strained land. Particularly if it shows his hands in most of the shots. I know there is a tab of this song on the site but it just dont cut it for me as i plan to try to make a more accurate and complete version of it. Needless to say a video would seriously help :) Well if ya can't its ok but i would appreciate if ya could. my AIM is sleight121 so give me a buzz if ya can help me out. Peace.

Try asking around in the trading/taping forum.

Yeah, anyone who wants to take another crack at that tab I fully invite them, because that tab on the site is very incomplete and I think that the main intro/riff may be wrong. This is no way meant to insult the tabber of that one, since what he put down is better than anything I could ever have created. But again, take a crack at it sleight121. He plays it on the 5-5-00 Disk 1 video on the FTP, but the camera is in a great position to see his right hand, not at all for what he's fretting with his left.

yea i got weighed down with work and so on a while ago so i never really got around to working on this song. Now that its a little bit calm i might try some on it (hate not havin a 12string for this stuff). But feel free if someone else would like to go for it. This is still one of the most awesome songs ive heard from tim. I always get blown away listening to his songs but this one really got me somehow. Anyone else just love SIASL? Anyway FiS has been doin great work lately on these tabs and if you get time i'd love to see what you could do with this one too. Peace yo.

here's my pathetic attempt at the first part. if you want to save your time skip over this...note that what i put will sound a half-step higher than what tim plays.

That's actually a lot better than what we had one the real site. That was the part that was bugging me the most, since it's the most repeated section of the song.

Again, don't doubt the work you've made, it's a good tab. But, as a small note, remember the baseline on the open A.

Here's a little addition missing from the tab for this song. I couldn't make it all sound just right, but the positions and hand locations are in the right neighborhood, since the video from 11-23-01 captures it his hands pretty well. Here's some more:

This stuff is towards the end of
his structured parts of the song.
e--------0-------------3-
B------3-----OR------0---
G----2-------------2-----
D--3-------------3-------
A------------------------
E------------------------

e------------1-------1---------------0-------0--
B----------1---1---1---1-----------1---1---1----
G--------3-------3-------3-------3-------3------
D------0-----------------------0----------------
A-----------------------------------------------
E--3-3---------------------3-3------------------

Later he adds something like this after
the previous part, but I couldn't get
it to sound just right
e-----------0-0------------
B-----------0-0-------0----
G---------4-----4---4------
D-------6---------6--------
A-----5--------------------
E-3-3----------------------
