Posted - 08/24/2001 : 6:47:02 PM I'm a big fan of Fluffy's photos, and I've always wondered how he does that abstact stuff with the light. So this week I busted out my digital camera and messed around with some motion blurs, and flash speed... I came out with a few that somewhat resemble his stuff. What do you think? They are:
Yuck, those were so bad I had to delete them! |

Posted - 05/21/2002 : 07:12:21 AM Hey Kev, that is very kewl!!! Was it my accident or design? I have discovered really kewl stuff like that by accident all the TIMe. I was taking pictures of my face reflecting on the passenger window of the van at nite using the light from the top of the digital camera to illuminate and reflect my face on the window. Some came out kinda kewl, very dark and sinister. Hopefully they will be posted on the website at some point.

Posted - 05/04/2002 : 11:20:27 PM It kind of looks (I use this word figuratively) like the pier in Santa Monica......maybe because the reflection makes it look like the ocean is underneath it.

Posted - 05/04/2002 : 6:30:43 PM Fluffy: the reflection, believe it or not, is on the back of my best friends brand new Mustang convertable. (I took the pic out of the back window while the car was moving) It's one of my favoites as well!

Posted - 05/03/2002 : 07:40:02 AM Different kinds of light react differently. You have to experiment and try different things and slowly you learn to look at something and you can almost start to visualize what it will look like before you actually take the picture. It alot of fun but you take alot of bad ones along the way. You guys only see the ones I like. You don't see the umpteen zillion I deleted. HEHE The more you practice, the more you will start to see outside the box.

Posted - 05/03/2002 : 04:14:14 AM thats part of it... finding the right lighting has a lot to do with it too, like Fluffy said, a bright neon light in a dark surounding is the best.

Posted - 05/03/2002 : 04:14:11 AM Well Kevin, I don't know if I would go that far, but I will take it as a compliment. THANX!! I have not put nearly as much effort or practice into my art as TR. I kinda more just happened onto it and have let it become my style. I am sure someone else has done it somewhere, sometime but I arrived at it by accident with no influence from anyone and that is one of the reasons I feel so comfortable expressing my creative side that way.

Posted - 05/03/2002 : 04:11:03 AM how do u actually get the effect like that... do u have to move the camera rapidly w/ slow shutter speed while taking the picture or what..

Posted - 05/03/2002 : 03:50:56 AM Hey Kevin, great stuff!! Kudos on the spurning of photoshop. I hate it when people think my stuff is affected in some way. Straight out of the camera the way you see it. That is the challenge. Anyone can take a picture and mess with it. But to capture an image on the fly that is the challenge. It is alot more fun for me to create out of what is in front of me than to sit around messing with and distorting an image. I do love it when others take what I have created and mess with it or distort it. I am actually trying to embark on a project with a painter who will take my images as I create them and make something of their own out of my art. I like the idea of someone else looking at something I created and seeing something completely different in it than I might have seen. Literally the individuality in all of us.

We have a machine that can create anything you made on AutoCad in a matter of hours. I want to see if they'll make mine. That's be so kewl....even though I couldn't play it.

I must look this up.

TRANSITIVE VERB 1. To give money to in return for goods or services rendered:
Hmmm, well in that case, no, I did not "pay".
