So at the ripe old age of 21, I am having a child! I found this out just last night. I'm very nervous but it's still not even close to setting in. It was essentially an accident but at the time it felt like the right thing. We are definitely keeping it and not giving it up for adoption, at least right now that is our initial decision. I'm dating another girl, however, and have already shared with her everything about the situation. My parents are supportive and so is my girlfriend. I guess that takes away Columbia as an option. Clearly I can't have a kid from another city. I guess I don't really know what I'm asking but just felt like I could post it and maybe other people will have similar stories or other such words of confidence.

Please pray for me if you believe in any God. Thank you all.

Thank you for all of your support. Please pray for me if you would.

haha, just kidding. you wanna talk about it, go ahead. i'll read it. if not, that's cool. i don't like sharing personal shit about myself on the boards, but some people do. that's cool. i understand this is pretty personal shit you might not feel comfortable talking about.

ATTENTION INTERNET STRANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

The answer is: miscarriage! Johnny!, what HAS he WON!?!?!?

okay on a more serious note for a much more serious topic. The lovely lady who was having my child had low Progesterone which is needed for the development of her uterine walls. Since she didn't have enough, the walls of her uterus were too weak and the child was lost.

I really have no clue what to think about this, nor would anyone in my position really. I found out that I was having a child, and then literally 5 days later found out that I was no longer having a child. This information had no time to sink in, nor can I even come close to comprehending the immensity of losing a child, or having it in the first place. A child is always a gift and I am sad that he or she will never be known, but at the same time I'm moderately relieved. I have nothing stable in my life other than the fact that I just started going to church and praying again 2 days before I found out I was having the kid. I guess it was probably a wake up call to stop "fucking around" literally and figuratively. I am definitely done having sex until I'm married. There is no way that I could have supported that child and I will take NO more risks. hmmmmmmmmm............

i really don't want to get into the religious thing, because that never ends well and is largely futile to debate. it's good that you've decided not to take any more chances, regardless of the reasoning behind it. seems like a wise move. i don't know i'd say "no sex before marriage" as much as i'd say "no sex before i am capable with dealing with the consequences." marriage may or may not come into that equation.

it's ok to be relieved. a kid is a pretty big fucking deal, and if you both aren't prepared to deal with it, and you lose it without, uh, direct intervention, then hey. score. yeah it's sad that the potential for a person is lost, but i think the relief is justified.

Agreed Dan. Everyone will find their beliefs in their own time. And I agree with the no sex until I'm capable of supporting a child as well. In my own life, I think it will be after I'm married now, but I completely agree. I never realized just how careless I was being with myself and the potential for creation.

I am sad that my child won't ever breathe or see the light of day, and again i agree with you Dan, there is a great amount of relief that comes with the sadness. It's still hard to understand and grasp but someday I'll make sense of it all. This way I can still go to music school if I want and the girl i was having the baby with can, ironically, continue on her life's path as well. (before she found out about the baby she had gotten accepted into Med school to become an OB/GYN. which i think is quite funny in a sick twisted kind of way)

Well, this might bring some light on this dark subject, it's about my beliefs. I believe in a certain kind of reincarnation, but not a religious one. I think we all do have a soul, or some sort of being other than the flesh and blood. I believe when you die, your "soul" leaves you. You, however are way to fragile to keep yourself together, and you normally break into some pieces that then wander. They are confused and do not know where to go. However, when they stumble upon an empty life being formed, they are sucked into it, feeling the comfort of being in a living body again, but after you are born, the memories and parts of the older soul get shoved into the subcocious, since it is the more confused part, and can't get together as well.

So what I believe happened to that child is that the soul entered it, but when it ended, it left again and will find it's place in another child. In which, the child will be born, will breathe, and will live.

I don't know if you got what I was trying to covey with it, but I hope the thought of not all being lost might be of some comfort to you.

it is an idea. but i should have been more specific. what makes you believe:

a) "souls," whatever meaning you attach to the term means
b) that such an entity is incapable of holding itself together
c) that it wanders when broken up
and d) gets pulled into bodies.

A) I believe that there is some essence inside all of us. It's something you can't really describe, but more or less feel. I really can't explain it.

B) Thinking about something that would have a completely sudden change, wouldn't you feel confused? Also, unlike matter, energy can be split easier than matter.

C) Again, after being broken, you are even more confused, and my belief is that you can't get to a higher plane of existence in such a confusion. So in which it is like some one with amnesia walking in a world where you cannot be seen or heard.

D) Again, it's a home feeling. You find a home, you are drawn to it, and it feels comfortable, familiar, and you're being can finally relax.

I think people like to think things that make them feel better, and also not think about things that do the opposite. That's why people aren't thinking or talking about the national id card that is coming this summer according to a friend at the dmv. That's why people don't think about peak oil, or like to think about how we're over the earths carrying capacity and the coming population decrease. Instead people like to think about things like god and heaven and moving to higher planes of existence because then it makes it ok to accept living how we live. I think the belief in god came about because it plain and simple makes it easier.

I know when my best friend lost both her parents to cancer this year I wish I could have just told her anything to comfort her. Which is why I can see how easily belief systems have arisen again and again with the same answers. I'm not saying beliefs are bad but in all honesty I feel like our myths and belief systems today are part of the problem in many cases. They're just not working for us, except a lot of times as an excuse that things will be ok. It's the drug of the masses.

You want something to judge morals by? Try asking yourself how your decisions will affect the seventh generation from now. Then act accordingly. That seems to work better than this is good and that's bad, don't have sex before marriage and gay is wrong.

I believe in God, Jesus, and all that comes with Christianity.

Here is what the Bible says:

1 Timothy 1: 3-7

"I repeat the request I made of you when I was on my way to Macedonia, that you stay in Ephesus to instruct certain people not to teach false doctrines or to concern themselves with myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the plan of God that is to be received by faith. The aim of this instruction is love from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. Some people have deviated from these and turned to meaningless talk, wanting to be teachers of the law, but without understanding either what they are saying or what they assert with such assurance."

Do you not see that this is what all of you are doing? You are speculating, and making assumptions when you have no idea what is true. I am not trying to force this religion on you but to show you what you are doing and possibly help you see the Light and choose of your own accord.

1 Timothy 4: 1-5 False Asceticism

"Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times (now) some will turn away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and demonic instructions through the hypocrisy of liars with branded consciences. They forbit marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected when received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the invocation of God in prayer."

I was once where you are at, actually I was there less than 2 weeks ago. I believed in a "single consciousness" that we all helped to progress. Sort of similar to some of the things that you have listed here. I was spoken to and changed my ways. I come to you out of love because I do not want to see you all lost in the coming days.

how is your belief in christianity not speculation on the save level as thespian? both of you have irrational beliefs without verifiable proof and no real reason to believe outside of you "feel" it.

and so it begins....i assume you are right. I am simply stating that there is biblical fact in the things that i am saying. he is simply speculating. He may be right. who knows. All i know is that i believe what i believe. for the sake of the board we should not place all of this topic here. it is between each individual and their own thoughts. not for debate here.

Also, my apologies for alienating or casting "wrongs" and "rights." For that I really am sorry. I lost the discussion and went into arguing. I hope I did not offend anyone. I still hold the respect for everyone else's beliefs I just got caught up in my new found beliefs. Please forgive my youthful passion.

Sorry to you Zach.

Touche to you, Dan.

And to your sarcasm Eagle Eye I say you were/are giving into the same disrespect for others beliefs that I was.

I will sincerely hold my scornings or my self-righteous beliefs. You were right Dan that most people can't keep neutrality and I lost that neutrality. If it happens again, feel free to snap a Second string into my eye.

No apologies necessary. Beliefs are never really up for debate. If it's truly a belief then that means it's something that is accepted not on faith or a basis in reality. If it is more than a belief then you're using logic and thus debatable. I think it's a bad idea to believe anything blindly. That's why I don't believe in god because I've found no rationality in which god makes sense. I like hearing about people's beliefs and wanting to know why they believe them. At that point people have to usually logically defend what they believe or say it's a belief and that's it.

My thoughts are speculation. I could be 100% wrong. It's just an idea. Just thinking leads to thoughts, leads to ideas, and what I stated was such.

I also want to stop this religious talk. All I was trying to say was to offer an idea that might be comforting, not to start any debate or anything.

I also don't think things will be alright. Our world is going to shit, and we need to change within the next 50-100 years or we are doomed (meaning here on earth, with pollution, disease, over population, the reverting back to monarchies, and such). But it is possible to turn around and live with the earth, instead of living on the earth.

i honestly didn't detect and anger or scorn, enlighten. the religious debate is pointless. let's quit? i'd be fine with that. it really is sort of silly, and i don't really have any new or interesting ideas to bring to to table.

Agreed. There wasn't anger or scorn but I was saying that someone was WRONG and that is what i was apologizing for. the loss of respect in saying that someone is wrong. sorry i brought that on everybody or we all brought it on each other. someone make a new thread that we can light on fire.

Ya the question now is how to change people minds and lives including our own. We need to change now. We could drastically reduce our footprint on the earth and confront the depopulation of species which will soon begin to be us, but how?

People now days think water comes from a tap and food comes from the store, and they'll protect it till their death because that's what gives them life. Just like aboriginal cultures have all over the planet when they protected their sources for water and food. How can we get people to change their minds?
