That's bullshit treatment right there, but I'm not going to stop eating meat. |

Ha ha ha.
Seriously though, if I can avoid it (and I'm fairly certain I can), I will not purchase any of the beef produced by that slaughterhouse. I rarely eat red meat in restaurants and I have the luxury of working at a grocery store that provides a wide variety of free range and sustainable meat products. I have the ability to choose consciously who I will support in regards to beef and poultry. |

people stop eating meat because they feel empathy with animals that are born to die. these same people, the ones who get morally outraged when i have a hamburger, all have lists of their own moral weaknesses as well, and seem to tolerate other injustices just fine. their moral superiority is selective at best, hypocritical at worst. "but dan, no one is perfect!" i know. therefore no one should bother me, or feel morally supieror, because i eat meat.
what they don't realize is that morality doesn't exist. you, i, and everyone else in this world can, does, and will ignore their own "moral codes" every time they want something enough. the source of moral outrage is guilt over some vice the person can't overcome. the difference between people who understand this and, say, people who think not eating meat means anything from a moral standpoint, is that people who know morality is fake don't make excuses or pretend their actions are anything other than what they are. |

I get my eggs and cheeses organic and free-range as well, Ben. There is a choice, you're right. You admittedly still eat fast food, though.
Your psychology lesson is amusing, Dan. I wonder what a Hindu might think about your views on morality.
I have no real empathy for the animals, though seeing them brutalized is disgraceful, for any reason. I don't like pets, and I don't think most people should have them. This lends itself, in a way, to me not wanting an animal's carcass as a source of protein, if I can help it.
I also think the difference between watching a YouTube video and being around when an animal is being tortured, essentially, is vast.

For better or for worse, personally, I find the suffering of animals more impactful than the suffering of humans.
And very, very occasionally do I eat fast food. Typically only on road trips due to the damn convenience of it, to be perfectly honest. |

i'm going to go out on a limb here and say that picture is metal.
i don't know much about hindu, other than it requires you to have several imaginary friends. how do you suppose someone into hindu would respond to me saying everyone selectively chooses which aspect of life to be obnoxiously moral about and figures other aspects of life are negotiable from a moral standpoint, in their actions if not their words. if such a person objects, i would point out that he or she believes in magical, invisible beings. |
