I don't think we will ever go to Iran. Bush wants it, of course, we've known that for a long while, but I am sure the American people will not stand for it . . . neither will the world. |

It can't be Iraq again, the circumstances are completely different. And the consequences would be far more drastic. That isn't to say hundreds of thousands of Iraqi lives lost, a few thousand soldiers from around the globe's lives lost, hundreds of billions of dollars lost, countless non-renewable resources lost, and ecosystems destroyed isn't drastic.
We are the last imperialistic power. It has to stop, we ran out of world. You think 9/11 was tragic? Wait until other countries finally get fed up and put their combined designs on the egregiously overstretched United States. You've all seen Survivor. The biggest asshole gets voted off. We are the biggest asshole by far.
And we are running out of gas, pun intended. Our money is devaluing. Our work force is lacking real creativity with little emphasis on sustainability. Our kids are becoming obese, non-attentive, completely removed. Our once proud cultures giving way to a mindless capitalist milieu, as a general malaise grows about the only thing that really matters, the continuation of humankind with an emphasis on a true symbiosis between ourselves and our environment.
I feel ashamed that Iran is an issue at all. They are a developed country trying to harness atomic energy to power a horribly imbalanced part of the world in terms of wealth and resources (a global problem, really). Life is different there. Do we not get that?
And fuck the United States anyway. What about our load of nuclear weapons? Israel? Pakistan? Being overtly hypocritical in that kind of arena isn't very encouraging to a planet which rightly views us as the blindly swinging fists of militant capitalism.
I grow weary. |
