I really like the synthisized sound tim uses. He uses it alot in the Live @ Radio City album with Dave. Does anyone know what he uses to create that sound. I looked for some pedals to get that sound but can't find anything and noone at guitar center has a clue what im talking about (as usual). I notice he has the board with a foot pedal he moves to adjust the effect, but thats it. Any ideas?
If it's what he used at Radio City...then it's not the Moog Ring Modulator.
To get the sound that a lot of people describe as "cello-like" he uses a Boss DD-5 digital delay pedal and a volume pedal to get the swells. This technique has been discussed around here quite a bit (a little searching will turn up a lot of info).
At least I think that's what you're talking about...
I agree that it's probably some mixture of the DD-5 Digital Delay and volume pedal. Do you have a specific song/time stamp to reference so we can listen and let you know?

Yeah, on Tim's songs Betrayal and Sanity. For instance the technique he uses at the very beginning of Betrayal. It has an 'other worldly' sound to the notes... if what you say is true than I am both silly for not noticing and underestimating how awesome Tim is at playing his instruments (which is off since I brag about him to everyone :/ )
By the way, here's a link I posted in the other thread that gnome44 mentioned. It's me doing something similar to what Tim does before Betrayal. I'm just using a volume pedal and Boss DD-5 digital delay in backwards mode, then turning the Delay Time knob from max->min and back again. You can definitely get some awesome effects with the backwards mode!
