Anyone have any good recommendations on a stage tuner?

I'd prefer something in a pedal package (I'd rather not lug around the rack-mount tuner that Tim uses, for example).

I'm looking at the Boss TU-2. But I've heard it's not particularly accurate...

I use a cheap $20 Korg tuner that I've had for like 10 years. I have a volume pedal with a "tuner out" jack that I just plug it into. I can't read the notes or anything while standing over it, especially in conditions that aren't very well lit, but the LEDs are enough to tell me sharp or flat.

I've never used the TU-2, but our bassist uses one. I can ask him what he thinks of it.

Yeah, let me know what your bassist thinks of his...

I do some alternate tunings and I'm sick of the hassle of tuning by ear with everyone listening. It'd be much better if I could just hit a switch and tune silently (and have something that's easy to read).

I use a Boss stompbox tuner, it's chromatic with bright LEDs telling you pitch and sharp/flat...I like it.

Here's what the bassist had to say:

"Yeah I have one and I like it really well. It's seems accurate, and I've never had a problem with it. The only thing about it that is even undesirable is that if you have it turned on and are using it as a 'mute' function, it can send some signal noise that is undetectable in an acoustic setting, but in a high gain type setting it's not noisy by any means, but it is noticeable. It doesn't bother me at all, but some people are really anal about their sound. It's probably the most popular tuning pedal out there, so it's obviously not going to be bad."

For my acoustic onstage, I use my Fishman Aura's built in tuner. For my electric I use my Pod Pro to tune it. When I am not plugged into those two, or plugging my electric in my Fender Blues Junior, I use either my Korg Chromatic tuner CA 30 or my clip on tuner the Intellitouch. With the Intellitouch you clip it on the headstock, and it tunes it from the vibration of your guitar. And the kewl thing about it, you can leave it on while you are playing. So no bending over or anything, it's right there, just press the button to turn it on and then press it to turn it off. It works surprisingly well. For the Korg, which is a better tuner, and is more reliable as well as you can adjust the Hertz on it, you can just lay it on your amp and tune it like that. It's also a tuner that can take a SHIT load of beating and still work perfectly.

As for a stomp box specifically for tuning, the boss that was mentioned is nice.

Not communicating can hurt more than any word that can be said -
