I got this from the blog of my friend, Terry, who lives in Cardiff, England. It made me laugh out loud, so I hope somebody from here enjoys it too.
Cat Flinging
Apparently the best height to drop a cat from a building is anything above the 7th floor. It seems if you chuck them out of the 4th floor window, they dont like it , because the survival rate is minimal, they dont have enough time to adapt their body shape to that which will allow them to kind of parachute..in fact the only time they get any body shape adaption is when they hit the concrete on landing.
However, if you bung them off anything over the 7th floor, this all changes, because they have time to prepare and adapt their body to a shape quite resistent to the air and land in many cases with hardly any damage whatsoever, unless of course they hit the road as a car is hurtling past, then it all goes to pot.
It is reckoned that a cat can land from this height and generally walk away whistling with just a momentary pause to flick the odd bit of fur in place... Brilliant...
What I want to know is what brilliant mind came up with this and how many cats were tested. Also if they chucked a cat off a 3rd floor balcony and it splattered, what sort of mind says ok, lets try the 4th floor then, ..nope...same again..I know lets try the 5th..and to keep going onto the seventh? I mean it defies logic..imagine you are the lucky cat who got the seventh floor gig, you survive and then they grab you and take you back up to the eighth floor and chuck you out again..
If I tried to do that to my cat, lily the storm trooper, she would survive anyway, simply because she has all the survival equipment necessary, built into her "Stormtrooper" gear. She has a utility belt, with mouse hooks,a fishing line, spare tins of whiskas,a reserve set of claws, and all the required paragliding kit in case some mad bloke throws her out of a third floor window.
Next time you get the urge to chuck a cat out of the window..make sure its above the seventh floor, if you cant, dont panic as the pile of cats someone else has thrown from the floor below will probably break your cats fall.
I would like to point out here that I like cats, have never thrown one out of a window, or harmed a cat in anyway whatsoever..oh except for those kittens I accidently hoovered up, ..and the time I layed tarmac in the back garden and steam rollered real cats in for the reflective car parking area...oh yeah and when i couldnt afford catalytic converters for my car and tried alternative measures...but apart from that..

Mrs. Conclusion : Hullo, Mrs. Premise.
Mrs. Premise : Hullo, Mrs. Conclusion.
Conclusion: Busy Day?
Premise: Busy? I just spent four hours burying the cat.
Conclusion: *Four hours* to bury a cat?
Premise: Yes - it wouldn't keep still. |

I totally agree! That is one of the reasons I love to read his blog. He had a funny one a few months back about GPS for cats, in which he said the local female felines were talking his TomTom, thinking that it was a doubly-fine male cat. |

I think laser pointers are one of the funnest ways to confuse a cat. Have you ever done that with yours Rubylith? |
