Sounds like someone tied one over last night! If not, Dave, you're just weird, LOL! |

A good thing is to clean the strings after you use them. Just even a cloth just to go over it. It helps to keep dirt and oil from being encrusted in the grooves. Or, there is some kind of coating on there that is a bit thick and you should just wipe them off before really using them.
Second, I do not like elixers at all. Too chimy, too bright. They would be good on a resonator/steel. I like DR and Dean Markley. |

haha whooops...
so yea if I use them for 10 minutes the stuff gets all over the fretboard. HRW didn't believe me...but i did it to his guitar the otrehr days hes like, "you got soem fucked up hands dude".
I was wondering if that happened to anyone else, I always wipe down my strings but I think my fingers are extra spicey/greasy.
Yea wild night last night. |

I live and die by elixirs. I typically get the polyweb medium light, find they give me great tone and range on my Martin. They have a really great sound and life, well worth the extra couple of bucks. |

I've used Elixirs exclusively for about 1.5 years. I've never had any problems with the coating getting on the fretboard or my fingers. Usually any nastiness comes from my fingers.
Even at the bridge where the stings get the most wear (I play mostly finger-style) the coating starts to fray after a few weeks, but it never gets on my fingers. |
