I LOVE TR's style of playing, and was wondering if there are any other good solo guitarist out there worth listening to. A few of my fav's are TR...(duh!),Michael Hedges, Justin King, Keller Williams, and Buckethead. |

I recommend Leo Kottke. More Folk-y than TR, but still blisteringly good. I'll leave the other recommendations to everyone else. |

kottke is some good shit. like enthu said, more folk-like, not quite as flashy. he has a sort of casual virtuosity.
if i were to suggest that one guitarist could rival tim reynolds in terms of melodic and harmonic skill and awareness, as well as technical skill, i'd say michael hedges. he blows my mind. you'll love him.
ok. next person suggest something. |

If you are into TR's more spacy stuff, I'd say checking out a guy named Michael Brook. He has a double album called Colbalt Blue/Live at the Aquarium that is great. Some of Robert Fripp's solo soundscape work also resembles TR's spacy stuff. Other than those, I'd reccomend (as I think I have millions of times on here) Pat Metheny's solo acoustic album "One Quiet Night"

I've always been a huge fan of Billy McLaughlin. |

Well if you can appreciate a different instrument, there's a guy named Steve Lawson doing some really cool stuff on bass. He does more ballads and spacey stuff than Tim does, but he's really awesome to listen to. I picked up Grace and Gratitude a while back and haven't stopped loving it! |

Wow, JoeGamo is right...I saw Tommy Emmanuel last night in Redwood City, CA, and he absolutely blew my mind. I have to say, I don't think there's a guitarist on the planet with more talent than Tommy...he is absolutely incredible. He did an album with Chet Atkins back in the day, and has a large collection of solo albums and DVDs on his website and I encourage all of you to check him out...really great stuff: http://www.tommyemmanuel.com/ |

Billy McLaughlin brings me to my knees.
The albums "Out of Hand" and "Fingerdance" are both masterpieces. |

We had started another thread about this top 100 list but it is a great source for more obscure, amazing acoustic players. It might be a great place to start if you want to delve deeper into unique acoustic players:
