I am planning on buying this album very soon. Any clue what to expect of this album (other than what's listed on the site)? I would think a little like See Into Your Soul.

This is my favorite TR album..again, really "spacey". Tim has quite a bit of improv in this cd, which is one of the reasons why i love it. A few of the songs have a lot of delay used in them, pretty much the whole song..I'm sure you've heard some of his songs like that before.

All of the songs, amazing..in my opinion at least. It's quite the purchase.

Unbelievable fidelity for a live album, one of the finest TR improvs ever in Hermetic Dew Drops, and some astonishing versions of Big Blast, Loose Interpretations, Imaginary Time etc...all acoustic.

A TR must-have...oh wait, they all are.

Ths one took a little bit longer to grow on me compared to the other albums. I got spoiled with the nicely constructed smooth songs of nomadic and SIYS, but Gossip was very different. As was stated before, it's a lot more improvised, with less structure and more free-flowing TR.

Okay, this has been brought up before. I think it was discussed that the album isn't "live" but was recorded live as is no overdubs or retakes. Just all done in a single sitting. At least to the best of my memory.

Listen to the whole thing from start to finish lying down in the dark. It is amazing. It will slow down, and speed up, and it takes you on a magical, musical journey.

I tried searching but didn't want to wade through the hundreds of threads, trying to find more information about how it was recorded/produced. We need to ask Tim and see if he remembers!

I think the entry in the discography section explains it all very well:

"Recorded live, direct to DAT with no overdubs, at Millers in Charlottesville, VA. This cd features Tim solo acoustic, masterfully manipulating a Boss DD5 and Morley Volume pedal to extraordinary results. This release has a very spacey feel and begs to be listened to as one continuous piece of music."

One of my favorites and possibly the most unique TR album, stylistically, there is. I've never heard anything quite like it.

Was this in front of an audience, or not? If not, was it recorded with no one there?

Hmmm, maybe I should search the boards, or ask Fluffy.

I've listened to it a few times now, both all the way through and certain tracks. To me, it seems the definate spot in the middle of "classic acoustic Tim" (Stream album) and "modern Tim acoustic" (Nomadic Wavelength album). To me, it sounds as if this is where Tim was really mastering his delay.

The 4 definately key/best tracks on here are

1 - Hermetic Dew Drops
2 - Big Blast of Hot Air
3 - the Gossip of Neurons
4 - Loose Interpretation

My favorite is Big Blast of Hot Air. This is definately (imo) the best version of that song. It's oustanding how he can play those high notes with the rythm he makes with slapping the strings at the same time! Damn, it's just so impressive. Then, it is my first (yes my first) listen to Loose Interpretation. I can now see why this site (when it was a fan site) was called www.looseinterpretations.com . It is definately one of Tim's all time best creations.

I also now understand how this was recorded. It was recorded in one sitting at Millers through their recording system (which you can see behind him in the picture), but not as a performance. The reason why Tim did this was because he didn't have any sort of home/personal studio. As Tim said in his recent radio interview, he never invested in a good home recording mic, so he never created a good recording studio, at least at this time.

Anyways, I am happy, it's great.

Honestly, I find it impossible to rank any song as number one on the album, because each is a masterpiece. Imaginary Time and Breathing Space in particular are perfect. The updated version of Letting Go and After the Dust...

The whole thing is pure sex.

lol, I wasn't ranking them, I just was just putting numbers numbers by them, not really ranking them. Also, those 4, I just think those are key tracks, and my favorite, but I wasn't ranking them.

Well said Arthen, Hermetic Dew Drops is one of the most amazing musical performances I have ever heard. I love listening to that on headphones, trying to follow it, but just losing myself.
