has anyone read or heard about this? when i first read it, i was more than a little suspicious. it sounded like the #2 of al qaida was making bush's point about staying in iraq through and through, pretty much echoing exactly what bush has been saying. it sounded like bush rhetoric incarnate, and another example of appealing to fear to force people's responses. well, this interesting news article appeared today:

if nothing else, al qaida has been pretty good at claiming and boasting about what they're doing, what they did, and what they will do to us and others. now they say that the letter was fabricated. personally, i wouldn't put it past the us to make up a letter displaying america's fears about iraq, during the war's and bush's lowest support, in order to gain support for iraq. our gov't has gotten quite good at controlling us and the world through fear. what do you think about these articles? |
