judging by our posts, I'd say there are quite a few jazz fans here, so I thought I'd mention that the new Thelonius Monk Quartet w/ John Coltrane live at Carnagie Hall cd is out now. The back story is that earlier this year, one of the archivists at the library of congress found it is a mislabeled box, and realized he found a treasure that has never been heard. I picked it up yesterday and it is quite the jazz jem. It's actually the #1 seller right now at Amazon.com I think that is pretty awesome for a jazz cd to be #1.
This is a pretty good album. I listened to it on Rhapsody last week and I enjoyed every minute of it. Much better than that other Monk Coltrane live album, the name of which escapes me now. Before this the music was pretty much not documented. 1. Monk's Mood 2. Evidence 3. Crepuscule with Nellie 4. Nutty 5. Epistrophy 6. Bye-Ya 7. Sweet and Lonely 8. Blue Monk 9. Epistrophy (Incomplete) Great sound too.
