| I want to get the Genesis Archive Vol. 1 Box set. The four disc one. It has "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" live, and also a "Supper's Ready" live with PG. |

I am getting a live A+ Genesis show from '74 on a B&P, they do Supper's Ready in the 2nd set. As soon as I recieve the concert, I'll mail you the discs if you want, always nice to help out a REAL Genesis fan. |

I am sure I have mentioned this before, but TR and I are huge Genesis fans. In fact, Genesis "Live" used to get alot of heavy rotation in the tour vehicle. It is one of mine and TR's faves. I get the feeling that that period of Genesis has inspired TR quite a bit from things he said. It might not be as evident in the music, but in TR's showmanship it definitely is. He is always complimenting Peter Gabriel's wardrobe and stage persona from this period. He seems to hold it in very high regard. He is also a huge fan of the early Phil Collins period. He is always commenting on PC ability as a drummer. So there is no confusion, here is a link to the "Live" album I mentioned, as they have a few:

Gabriel was best known for wearing bizarre costumes during Genesis concerts, to illustrate the whimsical characters from his lyrics (the old man of "The Musical Box," the title character of "The Return of the Giant Hogweed"). The cover gives you some idea of the visual aspect. More importantly, you get the music - a rawer, more energetic brand of progressive rock than that presented on "Seconds Out" or "Three Sides Live."
The song selection isn't perfect, mainly due to the time constraints of the vinyl era. Most notably absent are "Supper's Ready" and "Can-Utility and the Coastliners." But you get a representative sample of songs from "Trespass," "Nursery Cryme" and "Foxtrot." While the live versions remain essentially true to the studio versions, the band infuses the music with new levels of energy, particularly on "Watcher of the Skies," "The Musical Box," and "The Knife."
"Genesis Live" is a great introduction to the band's early years. In terms of running time, it's less generous than the band's subsequent live albums. But in its ability to capture the power of Genesis live, it's unmatched.
Speaking of bizarre costumes, TR has always wanted to get giant furry fox head mask for onstage. If anyone ever sees one in a costume shop or anywhere, LMK. We have been keeping our eye out for one for a number of years. TR brings it up all the TIMe, its kinda like a running joke with us, the "giant FOX head". I think it was somehow spawned by Peter Gabriel during this period and this particular Genesis live album. |

| That's one of my favorite albums ever Fluffy. The "Musical Box" from that performance is simply amazing, along with the other four songs. Even though it's only five tracks, it feels so complete. |

This is possibly my favorite Genesis album. They picked most of their best early material to include (about the only track I'd get rid of is "Hogweed"), and the performances are even stronger than their studio counterparts. The light bits sound more delicate, the heavy parts really thunder. This band definitely knew how to control their dynamics on stage. The presentation manages to be very dramatic without slipping over the edge into melodrama, which is where most neoprog bands that try to imitate Genesis go wrong.
I've read rumors that this was originally supposed to be a double album, with the second disc containing a live version of "Supper's Ready", and possibly other tracks. It's a shame that didn't happen - I'd gladly reduce all the other live Genesis albums to singles to make this a double. For those new to the band, this disc gives a good overview of Genesis in their prime.

When I was a kid, the text from the back of this VINYL record album kept me intrigued for hours. I would read it over and over again and think about it. Still to this day I think it is some of the kewlest print ever committed to an album cover. It is just so freaky. See for yourself.......

4.30 pm. The tube train draws to a halt There is no station in sight Anxious glances dart around amongst the passengers as they acknowledge each others presence for the first time.
At the end of the train, a young lady in a green trouser-suit stands up in the centre of the carriage and proceeds to unbutton her jacket, which she removes and drops to the dirty wooden floor. She also takes off her shoes, her trousers, her blouse, her brassiere, her tights and her floral panties, dropping them all in a neat pile. This leaves her totally naked. She then moves her hands across her thighs and begins to fiddle around in between her legs. Eventually she catches hold of something cold and metallic, and very slowly she starts to unzip her body: working in a straight line up the stomach, between the breasts, up the neck. taking it right on through the centre of her face to her forehead. Her fingers probe up and down the resulting slits; finally coming to rest on either side of her navel. She pauses for a moment before meticulously working her flesh apart Slipping her right hand into the open gash she pushes up through her throat, latching on to some buried solid at the top. of her spine. With tremendous effort, she loosens and pulls out a thin, shimmering, golden rod. Her fingers release their grip and her crumpled body, neatly sliced, slithers down the liquid surface of the rod to the floor.
SPLAT!
The rod remains hovering just off the ground. A flagpole without flag.
The other passengers have been totally silent but at the sound of the body dropping on the floor, a large middle-aged lady, wearing a pink dress and matching poodle, stands up and shouts, "STOP THIS, IT'S DISGUSTING!"
The golden rod disappeared, the green trouser-suit was left on a hanger, with a dry-cleaning ticket pinned to the left arm.
On the ticket was written:

| I remember when I got Genesis Live, it was the first Genesis album I bought. And I read that so many times, just thinking, what in the hell? But it is totally Genesis. Well, at least Peter Gabriel Genesis. |

I used to sit and read the liner to The Lamb Lies Down like a fiend.
The only song I really like Collins singing on is The Eleventh Earl of Mar. He is(was) a good drummer tho.
Missing out on stuff like Harrold the Barrel, Riding the Scree, Anyway, Fountain of Salamacis, Harlequin, FOR ABSENT FRIENDS, The Return of the Giant Hogweed, it., The Light Dies Down on Broadway...is inexcusable... AHAHA.
