Well it may be for any number of reasons but I am pumped for the holidays...peace on earth...and it might be the reefer, but I believe I have found the best gift ever..behold! my present for my brother-in-law:

| i'm not wishing anyone a happy new year. because a lot of people are going to die this year. a lot of people die every year. maybe some of you will. who knows? people die, or get paralyzed, or fall into a coma, or contract aids or cancer. not everyone is going to have a happy new year this year. i hate to remind you, but it's true. something truly horrifying can happen to any one of us. i can't tell someone "happy new year" and then it turns out they die or something. that'd feel creepy. the best i can tell you is "do your best." |

Bummer Man strikes again! Too bad you feel that way. You are right about all the negative things that can happen to people, that will happen to some. It's called life, but there are people who will fall in love this new year, some will get married, some will give birth, new life, some will be rid of cancer like I was this year. Some will open their hearts, their minds, their wallets to help those less fortunate and in return will find they received more than they gave.
Your philosophy is twisted. You don't have to tell me I could die this year, I almost did last year, but life is for living, not merely existing, so I say HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. I don't say merry christmas or happy new year either, but I also don't tell people they might die.
Try and be as miserable as you want, say whatever you'd like to offend us but at the end of the day, everyone still cares less about your problems than you do.

and what's that nonsense about "people care less about my problems that i do?" i have some simple and forthright questions: what are you even talking about? where did i mention any problem of mine? when did i demand that people care about whatever problems you think i have? what makes you able to guess that i have some sort of problem to begin with?
i'd suggest that perhaps you were in the wrong thread, but then i remembered that there really aren't any threads regarding any problem of mine, real, or in this case, totally imagined. the statement is without sense. |

I didn't know you and Jesus got down like that. Without this thread getting out of hand over something silly like this I'd just like to say that I wish people happy -whatever- because I'm wishing that they'll be happy during whatever period of time. I'm just trying to tell them I hope they have a good year. Basically I'm saying I hope you don't die or get paralyzed or something terrible like that.
I really don't think anyone should really care if Dan chooses not to wish people happy new year or whatever else. I don't get it, but last time I checked the earth didn't revolve around him wishing anyone a happy anything.
Although in a related story, one of my friends is trying to tell me that the earthquake changed the way the earth orbits or something like that. |
