Firefox is a browser based on mozilla that kills Internet Explorer.

On the site you can read reviews and faqs with reasons why.

Give it a shot. Make sure to install the Adblock plugin and use a filter from this site...it'll block 99% of web ads.

Glad to see I'm not the only chump. What makes firefox so superior to IE?

IE is not standards compliant, opting instead to use propriatary coding for web pages. just look at the css box-model problems IE has and you'll see why its frustrating to try and code properly. Thats why the W3C exists, to standardize the web so that information is exchanged in an efficiant manner. Unfortunatly, IE dissagrees with these standards, opting to tweak them for their own liking. By doing so, they prevent standard complient browsers like FireFox, Safari, and others to render some pages properly. This forces venders to adapt to IE or lose out on 90%+ of the market.

IE is also security hole city. they can patch it up however many times they want, but something thats open sourced and worked on constantly will never be as buggy as IE.

IE is also bloated in comparison. FF is quicker, easier, and the tabbed browsing is just amazing.

as a dear friend of mine puts it --

IE is like being drenched in goat cum.
Mozilla(firefox) is the towel which cleans you off!

I'm pretty much convinced to take the time to DL Firefox this weekend. One other question though, the above leads me to believe that some pages wont display correctly on FireFox due to what you were saying about the market conforming to IE's standards. So, is it still necessary to view some pages in IE?

How's FireFox on blocking Adware, Spyware and that junk?

Ridiculously good. I have never had a pop-up with any mozilla software (full Mozilla or Firefox). As far as the page rendering goes, it's compliant with W3C standards, which IE is not. Basically, if you run into a site designed specifically based on IE standards, it will look render oddly. I have this problem with the pages I write, because we're forced to use IE specific standards where I work. Our pages look like crap on Firefox. If you take any reasonably good site out there, odds are it's going to render just fine in Firefox.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those that understand binary, and those that don't.

somehow i always end up putting those bunnies about on the same plane as the "you laugh because i'm different. . ." shirts and stickers. although the ones that say "eat me" do have a certain charm to them.
