As far as it goes with Tim, does anyone know any chord shapes he commonly uses in his improvisations where he does those amazingly fast strums? I know of only a few, and ive eben messing around with alot of chords but none of them seem to have that distinct sound his do. All I really know he uses are the octaves like in Kundalini Bonfire, and these in Jemez Rolling Waves:

e-0---0-----|e--0---0-----------
b-0---0-----|b--0---0-----------
g-5---5-----|g--5---5-----------
d-7---5-----|d--7---5-----------
a-0---0-----|a--x---x-----------
A-0---0-----|E--5---5-----------

As always, any help is appreciated, thanks.

my favorite color is go fuck yourself. :D

Hmm...I've been trying to figure this out too. If you listen to stuff like I'll Back You Up by DMB, Tim improvs some awesome chord shapes (after his solo, he does this arpeggio thing that is AWESOME behind Dave and his guitar).

I haven't listened to a lot of TR stuff, but from the DMB/D&T I've listened to, I've noticed a few patterns. In a lot of songs he uses a two-note chord, starting on the G with the root, and than the third on the B:

  Major(C)- Minor(B)
E:-----------------
B:--5---------3----
G:--5---------4----
D:-----------------
A:-----------------
E:-----------------

I've just seen Tim do that a few times, so I thought I'd throw that out there...not sure if that's exactly what you're asking for, but I hope it helps lol.

technically those arent chords, theyre just 3rds (major and minor thirds). He often does use 3rds and 6ths in his soloing, but im more interested in the full strumming, as I've figured out most of the arpeggiation ideas he uses.
