Anyone here like these guys? I only have the first CD but I really like it. It's the only rock oreinted music I've really been all that into lately. Although sometimes I wish it was a little more bass and less guitar.

I own the first CD as well (at least I think it's the first) but I haven't listened to it in forever. Think I misplaced it... I liked it though.

Well I hope you find it because those discs are expensive as hell.

I have the VTT2 cd, and to be honest, I don't really listen to it that much. Although the song "Litigants" is worth the price of the cd.

It has moments, the VTT CD, at least the first one. But my problem with the VTT, and with Wooten in particular, kind of falls into this area: there's too much technique and not enough good material. Same with Wooten's solo albums, many great moments but just not enough fully realized ideas. It's like if TR played Stream-like songs all day, I wouldn't still be into his music as much as I am. Chops are great and all, but a lot of artists over use them. Strangely, I've never thought that Di Meola overused his speed.

JTR I have to disagree about Vic's albums. That guy fucking grooves no matter what he's doing. I mean if you don't think it's all that great I can understand that, but in no way is any of his stuff just technique shit. Like I said he just grooves on anything he plays wether he's thumping all fast or just doing a slow thing. Besides I think his albums incorporate many different styles into them so he's not just playing fast or whatever. To me it's BS though to say he's just to into technique. I mean you might think so and that's cool but I really think he can groove, and his stuff can get pretty intense.

I think he misses his goal sometimes. Again, I've only heard A Show of Hands, so maybe he's since improved his compositions. I really like songs like A Show of Hands, U Can't Hold No Groove, and his jazz Medley. But songs like Classical Thump, where the point seems almost to lie entirely in the speed, don't hold my interest.

Well that whole album is crazy in a sense that it's one bass. The thump stuff is cool but yeah not what anyone really wants to hear all the time just sort of a novelty type thing. More Luv is cool though and I like to sit down and listen to the whole thing when I want to relax. I really dig the Yin-Yang album though and What Did He Say. Check out Cherokee from WDHS. 16th notes when the tempo is above 200 is nuts. My favorite is live in america. That's by far his best album released. His next one is going to be amazing too. I had a chance to talk to him when he played with the tones in portland and I'm really looking forward to it.
