I posted about this book a while back, I don't know if anyone took the TIMe to read it(I hope some did), but if not, I found a great summary of the facts contained in the book at this web address:
http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/stories/2003/12/22/whyIsMarijuanaIllegal.html
Hopefully, if you are at all interested this will answer some questions and hopefully this will cause you to want to read more and get the book.
LOL I really think its really funny how much I post about marijuana and marijuana reform and I don't even smoke the stuff myself. LOL Maybe everyone will understand better how it is not just a pot smokers issue after you read the info provided above. ENJOY
Another good one, short-but-sweet, and to the point:

I just wanted to put my reccomendations on this one as well. A good read and it's not just about marijuana it also talks about the porn industry and labor especially that of the strawberry labor in california dealing with issues on immigration.
BTW Fluffy thanks for reccomending The Story of B. I just got it and I've only put it down twice. Once to eat and now to get on the computer. Any more gems you reccomend I'll be sure to check out. This book is quite possibly the greatest book ever. It's not often that books really change the way you think about the world in such a way as this. |

I didn't want to take this off topic but oh well all the threads seem to do it sooner or later. So what can I say about the story of B?
The world will not be saved by old minds with new programs. If the world is saved, it will be saved by new minds- with no programs.
I don't know what else to tell you without getting into it much more deeply. Just read it because you definitly won't regret it. |

I second that emotion Robin. If you are an avid reader, I would recommend starting with "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn, who also wrote "The Story of B". It is a precursor and gives you a great warm up for what you are in store for with "The Story of B". Ish opens your brain to a new way of thinking and looking at the world and history as we know it, or should I say as we thought we knew it. B takes it to the next level. I believe they should both be required reading at the high school level. Who knows, maybe even earlier. LOL They are both written in a fictional framework, but the facts he provides are as real as you or I. It is enlightening. I haven't had anyone who I have had read them be anything but blown away, as was I. Even a jaded old fart like me who sometimes thinks he knows it all can still learn a thing or two or even a whole new way of looking at the world. Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. This book had been recommended to me no less than 10 TIMes before I got off my ass and read it, and now I wish I had read it 20 years ago. They are definitely the best books I have read since my school daze. People would always listen to be ramble on about stuff and would always say have you read "Ishmael"? Always the answer was no and finally after about the 10 comment like that I decided I better see what it was all about. I can't believe I waited so long. As Zach said, "you definitly won't regret it." |

WOW!Currently reading Ishamel... Good night, love it. I read the first few pages during 4th of July while my friend who was reading it then was swimming. I was on about page 4 and of course totally engrossed, when this woman came up to me for some pool side chit chat (I guess).... She asked me what I was reading/ what was it about, and I had never been at such a loss for words! My friend just finished reading it, so I am borrowing it now. I can't wait to finish it, but it is one of those I want to read slow to make last! |

On the road mostly. Not alot of TIMe when I am at home. Long drives, good for reading. I also try to read at nite before I sleep but I usually don't get very far. LOL
Ironically, I bought TR copies of Ishmael and Story of B on this past TouR and I talked to him today and he is half way thru Ishmael. He is also being blown away!!! If you haven't read these books, CHECK THEM OUT!!!!! |

I want to get 'em for my next reading fit. Right now, I am reading the Harry Potter books. My daughter had a couple and I never even looked at them till last week. I read the first three is 3 days but the fourth has taken me 2 days so far and I'm only half way. I rarely get time to sit and read, so i've been enjoyin' it!

I read Ishmael last week. Good read, the author has an interesting view of the world. Also, I just finished Angels & Demons, which is a prequel of the Davinci Code. If you haven't read those I'd recommend it. It's very interesting history applied to a fictional story. |

If you could let us know what Tim thought about them. I'm always interested to see what he has to say about stuff mostly because his book list was great. |
