I though that I remember hearing something about apple comps like the G5 coming with pro tools. That's correct right?

I think some retailers sell or at least sold various packages which included both ProTools and an Apple.

i'm lost what is pro-tools lol.... also if anyone out there know's a lot about computers can you help me figure out what ram card i need? it's a sony vaio pcv-rx47ODS. thanks in advance

At the risk of writing paragraph upon paragraph, check out this link

Digidesign makes ProTools, which simply put is a DAW (digital audio workstation) including both hardware and software.

As far as RAM requirements, it depends on what kind of setup you'd use ProTools for. The site should be able to answer most of your questions.

The only problem with running ProTools on PCs and not Macs is that not all PCs have a firewire drive installed, though that's changing rapidly.
