| Man, talk about your spur of the moment decision/show... I was on my break yesterday at work, and I was surfing around the net when I come across a story that reads "Tom Morello and Serj Tankian host fundraider". Turns out they are performing tonight in Hollywood at the Roxy (fairly small venue) to benefit the grocery workers who have been on strike here in CA since Oct. and I scored a ticket!!!! I get to see two of my favorite musicians of all time in an intimate setting... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh |

forgot to post my review of this, so here it is:
I rolled into Hollywood early in the afternoon so I could roam around my favorite music store for an hour or so. When I finally rolled up to the Roxy, I was like 10th in line or so, so I ended up getting a spot standing right in front of the stage. Janine Garafalo was the MC of the show, and the performers included Lester Chambers, Brad Wilke, Phantom Planet, Boots Riley, Flea, Serj Tankian, and of course Tom Morello, who played acoustic all night with everyone. The highlights included an acoustic set by Tom performing folk songs under the name of "The Night Watchman", Serj reading poetry, Flea playing "Oh Christmas Tree" on bass, and a super-jam of "Time" as the encore with everybody on stage. I saw lots of people taking pictures but have yet to find any online... it was definitely cool though to be standing 3 feet away from these amazing musicians (cough: Phantom Planet excluded cough:) and there was even a point where Tom Morello threw his fist in the air... I did the same and he stared right at me. How do explain making eye contact with one of your musical influences??? Well I guess you can't... just one of those little magical moments.
