I saw it earlier today.
WOW, what a fucking movie. From the armor that the horseman wore, to the ghosts, to the elephant-thingies, to everything, one of the finest movies I've ever seen. I'll wait a few days for everyone to see it then I'll throw up my thoughts and spoilers. |

imagine this. me a t trilgoy tuesday.
front and center on the first level. best seat in the house my feet up on the barrier. on my left, beef jerky. on my right, mountain dew. on the big screen with surround sound, all three lotr films. in the lobby, in the 20 minute breaks between films, free arcade games.
return of the king is the greatest movie of our time. hands down. it was so good, i can only say 3 bad things about it.
1. no gandalf/witchking confrontation. 2. no mouth of sauron. 3. gandalf beating up denethor.
everything else was without the tiniest flaw. go see it. now. |

I liked the part when the riders of Rohawn charged and the elephants those were pretty intense! Gondor looked good too. |

I thought the movie was completely awesome. The first two I felt sort of lost in, but this one was flat out amazing, but the ending did seem rather drawn out... |

the scouring of the shire would have made a shitty ending for a movie, even if it was great in the books. they did well to cut it. yeah, the problem with the first two movies, if for some outlandish reason you didn't read the books, is that they have to introduce all of these characters and they don't have much time. and then the names can be confusing for some people, like sauron and saruman. sauron is elven for "the abhorred" and saruman is mannish for "man of skill." it'd be easier if in the movies they just used his elven name "curunir" to avoid confusion. |

Good News for all!
First of all the movie was the greatest thing I've ever seen. It is the greatest movie ever wrought by man.
Anyways, I heard that they filmed the entire "Scouring of the Shire" and it will be on the extended edition! I'm not sure if it is true, but we can hope! |

I actually still like the first one the best because of the awesome character development they do... I think the way they did everything was perfect. I remember after watching it for the first time (which was on dvd, not in theatres) I said, "wow, that was a perfect movie"! But the last one was still pretty darn good. I'm glad they ditched a lot of the cheesy comic relief that was present in the 2nd movie. |

Great movie, pretty close to perfect. After the last one though, I was so skeptical that they were gonna change things and ruin it that I basically forgot to enjoy it. The next time I see it will be much better I'm sure. The changes I didn't like were: Frodo telling Sam to go home; Gollum appearing early at the end, that ruined the surprise; and no explanation of Saruman. Also how Aragorn had to be told what to do, in the book he knew what to do all along. Those all bothered me. But I can get over it, those battles were fantastic. |

I caught the movie last night, and though it was awesome. I loved the fight scenes, especially when the knights charged the Oliphaunts. But damn, the scene with Shelob (sp) sneaking up on Frodo in the mountians scared the hell out of me. What an amazing looking spider. But my friend told me in the book, Sam kills her. |

you're friend is wrong. in the book, the fate of shelob is uncertain. defeated and miserable, she went back into her caves. tolkien wrote something to the effect that of her fate "no tale tells." it was uncertain whether she died or "slowly regain her strenght and spun her deadly webs again." |

Shelob's great. But Ungoliant is extremely hardcore. |

I was kind of dissapointed that they didn't have Denethor looking into his Palantir. And that they didn't have Aragorn revealing himself to the enemy via the other Plantir. |

shelob is a decenfent of ungoliant, who in the first age help morgoth kill the two trees of valinor and steal the silmarillions. morgoth tried to betray her, and she trapped him with her webs, but morgoth sent forth a great cry, which awoke his balrogs, who saved him. |

We went after the clan left yesterday. I was impressed yet again my Mr. Jackson (not Micheal)and his vision of the story. I have read the books three times over the course of my life and I am glad that his vision was close enough to mine that I did not feel robbed by the movie. One thing I am glad about is that they left out the mushy-shit around Eowyn and Faramir but I do wish that they showed more of Aragorn's healing powers and stuff like that. A lot of stuff got cut but I guess we will see on the DVD.

So I guess I gotta read the Silmarillion to fully understand that? |

Yes you do! The Silmarillion is great! It's the story of the origins of the gods of Middle-Earth, the forming of the lands, the coming of the people, and the first and second ages. It is by far the greatest book I've ever read. |

just saw it with my two best friends, and it was fucking AMAZING. drawn out, but amazing. The only thing i thought was hysterical was the part where the dead were set free. the looks on their faces were all like "yeah baby, give me some of that eternal peace! oh yeah, thats the stuff, all over me!!" |
