So, last weekend I finally got around to buying a DD-6, and after a couple hours of useage the cheap little battery that came with it died. And oh, how conveinent that Boss should sell it's own special AC adaptor for the pedal. Anyways, I want to know if it's worth it to keep buying batteries or to break down and by the plug for the pedal.

I bought a plug for my DD-5 when I got it. I hate batteries.

Small piece of advice... batteries are expensive little buggers. If you add up the price of replacing them every week or two over the life of the pedal, it's not even a comparison in price.

The ac adapter for my dl4 was $20. I'd have spent countless hundreds of dollars on batteries by now had I not just gotten the adapter.

but remember that the battery that comes with the pedal is "for testing purposes only" it's a carbon based battery and not an alkaline. so you should get like ~20 times longer (don't quote me on that exact number) using a standard alkaline.

Definitely buy an adaptor. When you start buying effects your realize very quicky how fast they suck batteries dry. You don't need to buy a Boss or Roland adaptor, any 9V adaptor will work. I bought 2 at radio shack. Danelectro also makes 9V adaptors that you can sometimes find cheaper than the Boss ones. Adaptors are definitely the way to go in the long run. Batteries go dead, and they don't wait for your song to be over before doing so. Also, a dying battery in a pedal in your chain will effect your tone. I struggled with my tone years ago, it was always fuzzy and not as loud as it should be/had been. I finally realized that the dim red light on my wah pedal meant something. I now own adaptors for all my pedals, and I don't buy a pedal without buying an adaptor to go with it.

Also something that is handy is buying a power supply.

I bought one for $50, i can't think of the brand right now. But you plug it in an outlet and then it has 5 power cables that you can use to power up to 5 pedals with. Plus it has a switch so you can turn the power to all pedals off or on with the flick of 1 switch.

This is what I did. Since I have a few Boss pedals I bought a one power adapter for all the pedals. Most people don't know this, but the Boss EQ Pedal has a built-in Piggy-Back system. So you plug directly into the EQ and then all the other pedals plug to it's output. Then you plug the power adapter into the EQ it will power all the pedals that are coneected into the output. So for me I have five pedals, but I need only one power adapter for all...because of the Piggy-Back system. Maybe that helps. Cheers
