For those of you who don't know, Clearchannel is the corporation that is responsible for making music SUCK these days. Here is just one example of how:
quote:
FOR OFFICIAL RELEASE To all whom this war concerns- It has come to our attention that the giant media conglomerate Clear Channel has been responsible, in recent days, for a barrage of pro-war propaganda. The war on Iraq has been promoted by this corporation, through its sponsorship of pro-war rallies, paying for the permits, the signs, and official statements blessing the Bush administration for this war. Clear Channel has tied its live concerts and its radio stations to this pro-war stance. While Clear Channel officially states that these rallies and positions are "pro- troops" only, the signs put forth at these rallies ("Pro-war or Anti-American", among others) and in their media clearly define their stance on this war and those who would protest it. In a recent performance by Ani DiFranco, Clear Channel representatives informed her that if she voiced any anti-war sentiments from the stage, they would cut her power. It is in light of these recent moves by Clear Channel that we, the undersigned, call on all those in the Twin Cities concerned about this war, about freedom of protest, and free speech in this country to boycott Clear Channel`s media arms, be they live concerts, their radio stations, or any other form taken which is sponsored or paid for by Clear Channel. We call on musicians to refuse to play Clear Channel shows; fans to refuse to attend them; listerners to refuse to tune in to their broadcasts. In doing so, we hope to send a clear message (no pun intended) to Clear Channel that we are disgusted by their disregard for open debate, by their attempts to silence free speech, and by their appalling attempt to portray an anti-war position as anti- american. Their tacit blessing of the Bush Administration and its horrific policies stands directly opposed to all that we believe, and this boycott is our response. Please take a moment to consider this, and please join us in the Clear Channel boycott. Thank you. Alex McCown, Malachi Constant
Clearchannel is basically a monopoly, but the government is looking the other way. So not only are they violating commerce regulations and making music suck, but they're also trying to eliminate freedom of speach! I plead with all of you to boycott any event associated with clearchannel, please. They have some stuff about what they own on their own website, check it out. www.clearchannel.com
There is also a site dedicated to killing clearchannel which is still under construction, but you can email the guy in charge and ask questions. www.killclearchannel.com
And another: http://www.clearchannelsucks.org/
Thanks for your support!

i concur that clear channel sux balls, but it is hard to protest them because they own freakin everything. (i know that sounds weird because they are everywhere, should be easy to avoid.) but every band u hear on the radio is owned by them, lolupaluzuzuaza was 'brought to you by clear channel". They're everywhere, to cut them off will practicly cut off all music. Though most of it sux there are a few good bands that i would like to see.... and their brought to me by clear channel
But man does clear channel suck. |
Remember, turn off your tv. Read. |

I haven't listened to the radio in months unless I have to.
But other than that it's damn hard to boycott. |

I'm going to try to do it. And if there are shows that are irresistable, I'll make a T-shirt that says "Kill Clear Channel" or something. Yeah...that's the ticket. I don't think it will be too hard for me to boycott though, I'm starting to hate arena shows, I've already sworn off Dave. I think I can do it...... |

I think this person may have thought of this idea before I did. Not sure. I don't remember when I thought of this, but these T's and stickers are already available, but not widely known.

I don't listen to the radio except when it's beyond my powers. I don't think I support them by anything else. So I think I'm good. I don't go to any big shows really. Dave is the biggest show I've been to and I won't be going to any of them in the future. |
