First up, all the tourdates and such for '03 are updated:

but the best news, I went from a server with only 150 megs to a new one with 1GB of space. So now im able to host that much more stuff, including tons of new pictures im going to upload soon, and a new MP3 section finaly! wont be able to host shows, but i can throw on a few gems for people to check out :)

Erich, what kind of limits do you have on transfers? If you're pretty unlimited, you could offer downloads, but do it via bit torrent. The only space taken up would be space on your actual hard drive, not on your server. All you'd have to do is have a tracker page and host the actual .torrents which are very very small. (maybe 5 times as long as this post!). So you'd host those, people would connect to your computer via bit torrent and you could still host the shows. Of course you'd have to leave the shows open all the time, or have some sort of request deal or something, but it'd be mundanely simple.
Just a thought that I know would work.
Glad you got the extra space. 1GB is a lot, but it sure does go fast once you get it going... |

especialy since i already ammassed 430+ megs of pictures.
Bit Torrent i wouldnt do. My comp would get slammed and being that im on cable id have no bandwidth left for myself. One day i'll own a server, and when i do i can limit the transfers and work with it that way, itd be way beter. |

Yeah, your computer would def get slammed. However, since I have a pretty fat pipe at work, I might be able to help, somewhat. Of course it'd be a bit slow. Like you'd get a request, then you'd tell me and I could open the torrent on my work computer (which could up at probably 300kB/s or so)... but then I'd have to close it during working hours. Probably way too much trouble. It'd be easier for me to just run an FTP, which I don't know how to do.
Anyway, just thought I'd put that out there. No harm in trying, right? |
