Well, what did everyone think?
I thought it was good, but I need to see it again. When the Oracle and the other guy (trying not to spoil it) were talking, it was taking 2 seconds to process every 1 second of speech. the stuff they said was amazing. The special effects rocked I thought. I'll give my full spiel once most of you have seen it. |

without going into details and spoiling it... I'll say that out of 10... I give the movie as a whole a 7 and the action a 9.5 |

On the whole I thought it was good. Some of the fight scenes lasted longer than I thought possible, but they were well done so it was okay. I will say it could easily have been 10 minutes shorter. Didn't need the whole Zion dance-orgy sequence. Although maybe the boys liked it...
I found out today that if I had stayed through the credits I would have seen the Matrix: Revolution preview. Oops. Gotta see it again. But I know exactly when to go get popcorn. (see orgy reference above) |

*MINOR SPOILERS*
Saw it again...wasn't any happier
I wish they would have made this movie 3 hours long. It seemed like it was rushed. I got a chance to hear more from the Oracle and the Architect. I mean, I got to pay closer attention. This movie just could have been done better. Then again, the original matrix, although always conceived as a trilogy, was done as a stand-alone film, I can understand why the second step had to be so lame. The Wachoski brothers had better have made this a stepping stone to Revolutions or I'm gonna be really pissed. Since I imagine almost all who reads this had seen it, this is my epiphany I had after the movie that made it interesting. Zion is a second Matrix and Neo is a program. I'll expand on it more when I'm not so drunk and tired. |

**SPOILERS**
I liked this movie a lot. However, I watch stuff like this purely for entertainment value, and I was entertained. I didn't stretch to grasp what all they threw at me about the Matrix and all that, I just enjoyed the movie. There were some things I didn't get, and somethings I wondered about (why was it called "reloaded" when in fact, it wasn't reloaded.) (why can Neo fly/not get hurt/take bullets out but he can't just seriously mess people up at any point...ie make their head explode just because he want's to, esp in fights)
Anyone notice:
-When Neo's talking to the Architect, the A says "grotesque" (or maybe "gruesome") and George W. pops onto the screens behind him. I thought that was funny.
-On the interstate, both good guy and bad guy drove Cadillacs, and other cars getting destroyed/used were GM products, but not Cadillacs (until the last part of the interstate). No Fords were harmed in the making of this scene (that I remember).

Please expand on that thought. I was very confused throughout that whole conversation, and all I got out of it was that since it was the 6th version of the Matrix, leading up to that 6th, Neo failed 5 times because of love right, and Zion was built over and over again in a cycle? I'm confused....but plan to see it again eventually to get a better grasp on the ending. |

I'm also curious about those two twin body guards for the French man (he was a programer right?) I thought he made them sort of like a protection program for himself, either way they were cool as hell. |

I thought that the movie was good, I didn't feel like I wasted money or time, but I could have gone for more story line and less fight scenes. Well, let me take that back, the fight scenes were amazing, and I liked all of them, I think they could have been shorter though. Who the guy was at the end (not Neo, just trying not to spoil it. Do you think they will just expand on that in the next one? When Neo was talking to the gray beard guy, what did he tell him. Again, I don't want to spoil this for anybody, I caught bits and pieces of the conversation but because they were saying so much so fast and I think I missed a couple of things that he told Neo. Any inlightment would be great. Also, I thought the new remix of When the World Ends is way different, I would like to hear it again before I say I like it or not.... |

I thought what HTG meant was that Neo was a program like the Oracle and the key maker. I don't understand Zion being a second matrix, but maybe he'll expand on that soon.
Regarding the "built over and over" thing: I understood the Architect to say that he's on Matrix v.5. The Neo "bug" has not yet been worked out, but with each successive version, he's getting closer to eliminating the bug.
I could be totally wrong |

I thought the French guy was a program himself, but he was a program who could write and control other programs. Somebody during the movie said that the vampires and the ghosts were programs gone awry in "the old days." I just assumed that the French program has figured out how to contain and control those rogue programs.
My question is: did the explosion/fire kill the two ghost twins, or are they still out there? |

If you listen closely to him, he says that he's survived Neo's predecessors, and that they had much more respect for him. The Oracle says that he's one of the oldest programs in the Matrix (which leads me to beleive that The One is always a program) ... that's why he has the ghost twins and the other hard-to-delete programs. He also knows the value of the keymaker, and that's why he keeps him locked up. Also, the Merovingian dynasty was the first kingdom of France to emerge from the ruins of the Roman empire, led by Clovis I. Unlike most ruling families in Europe, though, it's not named after it's founding member. Equate the Roman empire with the first-layer Matrix and Zion with the second-layer Matrix that The One is responsible for creating.
That's what leads me to believe that the Merovingian is the first "The One" |

Oh yeah, and since this is the 5th version of the Matrix, did anyone notice that when he visited the Merovingian, the restaurant was on floor 101
101 in binary = 4 + 0 + 1, or 5
But then again, maybe I'm reading into i way too much |

Your right, the Oracle says something like "all of those stories of werewolves, vampires, ghosts, are just programs that are doing what there not supposed to be doing." But no, I dont think there dead...at least I hope not, they were cool characthers. |

I saw it once again today and have some more ideas.
The councilman is the previous Neo, listen to his speech about how man needs machines and vice versa. I still think the Merovingian is the original Neo, but I may be starting to think more that Persephone is his Trinity, after giving Neo the "he was like you once" line and telling Trinity that things like that (love) don't last forever. |

I've recently downloaded a bootlegged version of it, and let me know if you want to snag it, i'll give you the link. It's decent quality and sound (no DVD mind you) and it's great. The conversation with the maker of the Matrix makes more sence the more times you see it, but re-watching the fight scenes is awesome. |

Just saw it AGAIN...downloaded it this time (of alt.binaries.movies, how l33t is that)...realized something else that backs up my Merovignian theory. They all get off on the 101st floor to see him, Neo's apartment back in the original was 101.
I'm gonna read that other post tomorrow at work. |

I saw it again on Friday and am confused anew:
During the chase/fight scene on the semi trailer, the agent says something like "nothing matters except the exile." If the agents ultimately work for the Architect, and the Architect wants Neo to find him, then he should want the Key Maker to help Neo. In which case, the words of the agent made no sense to me.
Can anyone help me oot?

Teri, I may be WAAAAAYY off, but I think the Agents are rouge now... there was an explanation somewhere in the movie that they are no longer needed, but they are now a program that knows it is on the way out, and the reason they have found a way to multiply is a way of fighting off their doom and staying alive. Like I said, I might be totally wrong, but I think the Agents only work for themselves now. |

a) That would make him 100 years old, right? Do you think the rest of the council are part of the 23 with which the last Neo was allowed to populate Zion?
b) Since each Neo is part code and part human (I think) then I totally understand how each one can become part of the next version of the matrix. But if Persephone, Trinity, etc. are human, how do they become part of subsequent versions?

Hey everybody I've been reading this site's boards for a long time but this is my first time actually posting... AND I gotta question! Has anyone played Enter the Matrix for gamecube? I rented it and it's got really awesome gameplay, nice graphics too (not the best, but nice) Anyway to my point.... there is a scene in the game where, in order to save her friend, Niobe is forced to kiss Persephone just like Neo did in the movie. Any more ideas on Persephone's purpose now? I really need to see Reloaded again, the scenes w/ the Merovingian and the Architect went completely over my head. |

a) Yes, he is 100 (a program can be as old as it wishes). Not sure if the other 23 are who started the new population.
b) Maybe they are not human |

quote: The Oracle talks about aliens and angels as other errant programs: "Every time you've heard someone say they saw a ghost, or an angel—every story you've ever heard about vampires, or werewolves or aliens—is the system assimilating some program that's doing something they're not supposed to be doing." Besides the vampire twins, we do get to see two werewolves, and one angel—namely the Seraph, although he looks like a regular guy (except for the golden Matrix code). We do not see any ghosts or aliens. As it happens, I was rather pleased with this part of the Oracle's speech, as I put forward a theory in a book in 1999 (Paranormal Phenomena and Berkeley's Metaphysics) that real-life angels and aliens are in fact autonomous modules within a real-life Berkeleyian matrix
Arent the twins Ghosts, not Vampires? |

Okay, I don't know if these were talked about in the links posted, but anyways...
I agree with the whole Zion is another matrix designed to control the 1% of the people who won't accept the original matrix. And another little bit of proof is at the end when Neo holds up his hand and stops the robots from killing himself and the others.
Any thoughts on "Bing" (the guy who tried to kill Neo and the lone survivor of the robot attack)? I think he's Agent Smith or something. Remember when Agent Smith turned the one guy, and then he went into the phone?

Both of those items are covered in excruciating detail in the "more than you ever wanted to know" link. Grab a bag of popcorn, pull up a comfy chair, and read the whole thing if you've got time. It's quite interesting.
I'm still having issues with the ghost/vampire/seraph thing though.
According to most of the websites I found, you can't kill a vampire with a silver bullet. In fact, one website said the following:
SPECIES - COUNTRY - APPROVED METHOD OF DISPOSAL Sampiro - Albania - Stake through heart Nachtzehrer - Bavaria - Place coin in mouth, decapitate with ax Ogoljen - Bohemia - Bury at crossroads Krvoijac - Bulgaria - Chain to grave with wild roses Kathakano - Crete - Boil head in vinegar Brukalaco - Greece - Cut off and burn head Vampir - Hungary - Stake through heart, nail through temples Dearg-dul - Ireland - Pile stones on grave Vryolakas - Macedonia - Pour boiling oil on, drive nail through navel Upier - Poland - Bury face downwards Gierach - Prussia - Put poppy seeds in grave Strigoiul - Rumania - Remove heart, cut in two; garlic in mouth, nail in head Vlkoslak - Serbia - Cut off toes, drive nail through neck Neuntoter - Saxony - Lemon in mouth Vampiro - Spain - No known remedy
Who was the seraph with the golden code? Was I sleeping through that part? |

Once again the IMDB is the font of all knowledge... the Seraph was the "back door" guy protecting the Oracle.
Seraph: The Oracle has many enemies, I had to be sure. Neo: Of what? Seraph: That you were The One. Neo: You could've just asked.

All right, and it makes sense now. In the text :
quote: namely the Seraph, although he looks like a regular guy (except for the golden Matrix code)
Because in the movie, when Neo walks into the door, and the Seraph is sitting down, we see Neo's point of view, and the guy has 'golden' codes running through him. |

So that solves one confusion.
Unfortunately the cast list doesn't mention vampires, the Twins are listed as Twin #1 and Twin #2, and there is one "Ghost" who I can't identify from the movie. |

Ok, sorry but I just couldn't resist... far be it for me to call myself a Matrix expert but the guy's name is Bane... not Bing... I didn't realize that essay (see more info than you would ever need) was so frickin' long, lol my printer just shut down in the middle of it. (yes I admit I read it, well most of it) Some of it was ok but then the guy started talking about brain connections and lobes etc... basically my questions can be answered in a very simple fashion, for example: Q. How can Neo fly? A. Because he's the One, duh... I guess some people aren't so easily satisfied. |

quote: Any thoughts on "Bing" (the guy who tried to kill Neo and the lone survivor of the robot attack)? I think he's Agent Smith or something. Remember when Agent Smith turned the one guy, and then he went into the phone?
Another comment I just couldn't let go, (I seriously apologize) but Smith is no longer an Agent. (sorry again) |

Hell yes, the fight scenes are amazing, but theres so much depth and story that we first dont realize. Very well worth a second viewing to catch what you missed. . . .or just download a boot leg. |

i am aware of the depth of the story. i don't understand it and don't particularly want to. i can get deep philosophical many places, but i can get pure whoop ass in fewer places.
and speaking of depth, no one beats tolkien on that. |

I thought that was silly. I think they even tried to sneak some boob shots in there (there being the dance scene), which I don't tend to mind, but in that scene it was just silly/revolting. And a place like Neo and Trinity got it on just didn't fit with the movie. Everything else was dark and metallic, but that dance and their tryst room was orange and warm looking... not fitting.
Now... if Trinity had hopped up on Neo while he was in the matrix via his bioport... well... hehe... I might not have disagreed with that. |

saw this movie tonight finaly, thought it was a great addition to the first. Lots of great twists and thought provoking dialogue.
i think the most ironic thing, (though not necesarily entierly true) is that 'the prophecy' might have been originaly created by the machines. Or maybe it is true, because there were always humans spared from the past matrix's to create the next Zion's. So perhaps the story has survived the test of time.
I dont want to speculate to much about things on this movie, untill i get to see revolutions, then we can work it all out, but i loved the movie, even though i thought the car chase sceen went on a bit long.
But, whats weird is, to me, action scenes dont really mean anything, im not wowed by a guy fighting 100 other guys (who are all actualy one guy). i should be, perhaps technology has gotten so good, and i have gotten so used to seeing great special effects, that they are no longer special. anyone else feel this way?
I love movies that make u think, rather then just go 'oooo, pretty colors'. |

I totally agree! Which is why I have no plans to see 2 Fast 2 Furious. (I am assuming the movie is not designed to make us think; let me know if I'm wrong and I'll change my plan.) |

Not sure about this, but most TS mpgs are split in two parts. You might find a divx copy somewhere that's one piece, however, but I doubt it. Those usually take longer to come out.
You can get programs that will join the two parts, too. |

Pretty good...the background has a lot of scalloping from the mpeg compression, but it's all reasonably clear. Not sure if it was taken with a camcorder or if it was telesynced. |

Completely agreed. In that latex dress she's one of the most gorgeous women to grace the silver screen in a long time. As a matter of fact...

quote: I'm also curious about those two twin body guards for the French man (he was a programer right?) I thought he made them sort of like a protection program for himself, either way they were cool as hell.
I heard that they're two parts of the same person. But that theory's just something a fan came up with, but it makes sense because they talk as if they're one, "we are getting annoyed" or something like that.
It's ashame they died though, they were incredibly awesome. |
