tell me what you think.

Mother Social

It is wrong to doubt the gender of Society
As that would reflect on her propriety
And to second guess the notion, which would cause a slight commotion, that she be improperly sexed,
Would leave a woman quite vexed
She's spent her time learning her social cues, reading the social news, and paying her social dues
Then changing them like she would a pair of shoes
But of Pride, she has much, and dont you ever forget it
She married Conformity and didnt once sweat it
So to call out her chameleoniaty would be such a threat to Society, enough so to envoke a massive coup d'état
... Even if that's a social faux pas
And dare you not to question her variaty
As that would be the bane of dear Society
Her frail image cant handle such seething rhetoric
To which the claims are quite pathetoric
How can one not admire the many shapes of mankind social in their enormity,
Such as Mrs. Conformist, Mr. Non-Conformist, and the bastardized son of their marriage, the disparaged Conformist To Non-Conformity
So before you decide to take light and offend
Please bare in mind, shes not one to trans-gend
So if ever you desire to even inquire her standings amongst the the social elite
Look at her feet

Great poem, but did I miss something, is there a word such as sociaty? I know society or sociality but sociaty? Hey I am the worlds worst speller, I admit it, so there is no mocking intended. Hell, it doesn't even matter, the poem is great, a fun read, anyway!

Thanks for sharing. I just think you ought to think about putting a book out with your poems and photos, it would be pretty awesome!

Erich I think it's good, very good
You inspired me to share one of mine

Journey to Surrender

I always feel you here now
Do you always feel me near?
Has this journey been so we can be
Entwined...and free...in love

I always feel your heart now
Does mine always beat in yours?
Has this dance been learned so we can live
As two becoming one

I always feel your light now
Do I always light you up?
Has this gift been shared so life can feel us
Always making love

We're always making love now
Softly, always making love
With tenderness so sweet and good
Two souls that shine as one

here's a poem me and some of my friends wrote a few years ago..

Little miss muffet sat on her tuffet eating her curds and weigh(sp?)
Along came a sloth as fast as a moth and stole all her curds away.
Miss Muffet pulled out a "9" and capped his behind and said,
"Give that back you mean monster!"

another new one:

Im jealous of the little things
Sand between toes on warm days
Where the smell of mothers cooking was tasted
Even 2 blocks away
And little beads of understanding
Passed between what is now a seperation
But once was not
Days where a knife passes swift through butter
Or flesh
I tend to forget which is which
Jealous of marble statues for sale, locked deep in their gaze
When passing is the one youd sacrifice flesh
For stone
In a heartbeats time
"Your sloth for my wonder", shed tell you
In soft whispers, like the conception of a God
Your tongue ready to birth the cathartic messiah
Only to misscariage
Im jealous of the little things
Drops of sweat on swollen fingers
"My nectar for a strand of his hair", shed say
Each fingernail emerging from pursed lips like Christmas
To be scattered around, like dissapating stars
Or dusted upon shoulders on windy days
Emptied from pockets, filled with remanence of holier moments
Thrown to the floor to make room for
Little things

Here's one that I wrote 5 minutes before class when I was in seventh grade. It ended up winning the school's contest and later a national contest that put it into a book of poetry written by kids.

(this was done on a piece of yellow construction paper I cut out to look like a cob of corn)

There once was a man who liked corn
He'd been eating it since he was born
Corn for dinner, corn for lunch
Only on corn, would he munch
And if he ran out he would mourn

Like I said, I spent maybe 5 minutes on it the morning before class and had hoped for a C-. We had a week to do it, but I just forgot. I ended up getting an A+. When the teacher said "I've picked the poem that's going to be entered into the national contest" and read mine out loud (putting emphasis on certains words and whatnot) I was floored.

I mean come on!

Ahhh the creative writing grading scale of Junior High. Those days were great, if not a little disconcerting.

There once was a man who wrote poems
About elves and goblins and gnomes
When he read them outloud
To a seventh grade crowd
they hailed him the new king of Rome

i win!

Erich, brothah, I still find myself thinking about Mother Social now and then, maybe because I am a chick, but I don't do heels or makeup, and still occasionally think I'd rather be a boy, so the gender and society and conformity thing speaks to me. My reaction to the little things, I feel like digging in my garden, and hopefully letting go of some of the things that feel like rocks in my heart. It spoke to my soul, and I do enjoy soul conversations.
